If student loans are cleared and forgiven what company will give out loans?
They won’t.
If nobody will give out loans because they won’t be paid back then only the rich can afford college/university.
If school is free at the expense of the taxpayer then everyone has the same education and they cancel each other out in the workforce.
A higher education put you ahead of the pack but if everyone has that same education then you are not special and you work at McDonalds.

@chesstachio saidCollege tuition should be free.

Yes, even for people like you. Especially for people like you.
@chesstachio saidTrillions on an army... but not on education?

Health? Infrastructure?
Your concept of better education leading to more fast-food employees is so contradictory to reality that I fear the education system has failed you.
The better educated the workforce, the more money it makes.
@chesstachio saidHow do countries like Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, etc. function, with good and widespread education being the norm?
If everyone has the same education how do you separate high paying jobs from labour jobs?
Nobody would stand out.
How come they have a better quality of life?
When good education is free or affordable, the general trend is that the society functions better. And some people still work in fast food. Quite often students wanting some extra money.
And quite often boring jobs become more interesting. Check out, for example, TPS.
How cool is that? See link at bottom of post.
What makes me good at my job? Not my education. That just gives me oppertunities.
Why does one person become a lawyer, another a school teacher and yet another a communications expert?
Why is one teacher better than another?
And the answer to those questions is how differentiation works when everyone is well educated.

In the past high school graduates got picked before grade school graduates.
Then college graduates got picked before high school graduates.
If college is free and everyone goes and graduates how would the workforce pick and choose? And what college graduate would willingly take a crappy job?
Basically this stupid plan just extends school and parents have to put up with their kids living at home even longer.
It’s bad enough already with kids staying home after high school... now you want free college so they stay home until 22 years of age or longer?
