This time it's not the Arabs calling for outside support, it's the Turks. It seems Turkey claims Syria shot down a Turkish aircraft and Turkey wants the support of it's allies in NATO.

That would depend on whether the Syrian action constitutes an attack on Turkey or a defensive measure on it's own part.

Given that the incident occurred over Syrian air space it would be difficult for Turkey to claim it has been attacked.

Turkey claims it was international airspace.

whoever shot the plane down is probably already dead .
