The Case for Transparency in Government

Debates

Trump's credibility stands or falls with this case: either the public knows to whom he is beholden and whether he profits from office, or they do not.

Either the court asserts its authority, or there is a king in the WH.

Biden flatly said yesterday that he had no knowledge of the 'visit' or whatever of Flynn to the White House. Hey,, everybody, it has been discovered that he was IN THE ROOM, for god sakes. He lied. Do you think he would even understand transparency.

A lot of posts are about lying...OK,, so it happens on both sides. We could do ourselves a favor and discuss issues, rather than personalities and bad hair. What about Pelosi's hair? I mean........................

@AverageJoe1

“ I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” Trump said.”
I guess he wasn’t wrong about the moral poverty of his base then.

Transparency…? Someone said "Transparency in government"? Really!?

Let's see all the big pigs in the house and senate produce their tax returns.
Maybe Pig Pelosi and explain how she has a net worth of $140 million.
Or find out how Hilary got all her $millions, or Obama. Or ANY of them.

What's that, Dems...? "only for republicans". Got it, and thanks. 😏

Good issue, Earl. I will stand by for all the responses of our honorable liberal judges here. Keep your wifi humming. Hey, is everyone listening live to SCOTUS on Trump taxes?

Oh, really, fool?

Take a gander at this story, then.

McConnell puts blame for 2020 coronavirus failure on Barack Obama, in office 2009-2017

Christopher Wilson Senior Writer

With more than 80,000 Americans dead from the coronavirus, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Trump are trying to deflect blame to former President Barack Obama.

In a dialogue with Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, live-streamed by the Trump campaign on Monday evening, McConnell said that Obama’s team, which exited office over three years ago,“did not leave to this administration any kind of game plan for something like [the coronavirus pandemic].”

Politico reported in March that the Obama National Security Council left its successors a document titled “Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents.” It warned of potential problems like shortages in personal protective equipment that have plagued the nation’s response. The Trump administration neglected to implement its recommendations.

“We literally left them a 69-page Pandemic Playbook.... that they ignored,” tweeted Ron Klain, who oversaw the Ebola response under Obama and now advises presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. “And an office called the Pandemic Preparedness Office... that they abolished. And a global monitoring system called PREDICT .. that they cut by 75%.”

“The maddening thing is Obama left them a WH office for pandemics, a literal playbook, a cabinet-level exercise, and a global infrastructure to deal with ‘something like this,’” tweeted former Obama adviser Ben Rhodes.

McConnell said it was “classless” of Obama to criticize the federal government’s coronavirus response, saying that he “should have kept his mouth shut.” In audio of a call with former members of his administration last week obtained by Yahoo News, Obama said that Trump’s handling of the pandemic was “an absolute chaotic disaster.”

Yes, Pres. Obama, yes, it was. And continues to be. And they can't even accept the blame.

And oh, yeah, here's another about this.

I could hardly fail to disagree with you less. All representatives elected to high office should produce their tax returns, declare all sources of income and all assets, no exceptions.

Start at the top.

@moonbus
And most of them INCLUDING OBAMA, DO.

The question we want answered: What does tRUMP have to hide? He has hired a separate set of lawyers specifically to hide his financials.

WHY?

AND his defense, his ACTUAL defense: HE IS ABOVE THE LAW. LITERALLY.

That is the case his so-called lawyers are making right now in the Supreme Court.

If they agree he can hide his financials, they will have converted him and the presidency to a dictatorship and THAT is a fact.

AND what happens if he loses or even wins in 2020 and HAS to leave in 24, and a Democrat is elected, will Monster Mitch sit still for that? I imagine in that case if they own the senate and the house there will be laws generated REAL quick limiting the powers of the POTUS.

Too late to arrest a known criminal like tRUMP.

@sonhouse

Oversight of rulers' assets is essential to prevent kleptocracy. Those who won't comply voluntarily must be compelled by law, no exceptions. Otherwise, a country is on the high road to entrenched corruption.

@moonbus
Exactly what is being decided as we speak in SCOTUS. Which is why tRUMP has paid a dozen lawyers to try to hide his dealings. My guess is he gets money from two sources: Russia and Mafia. He has known dealings with both.
