As in the film 'They shoot horses don't they?'

Susannah York really should have won an Oscar in that one. And Gig Young did.
Yes, "they shoot horses, don't they?". I remember it but never saw it.

Susannah York played in "Bladerunner". Beautiful woman.
And Gig Young! wow, he was old when I was young lol

Susannah York has the distinction of snubbing the Oscars. However, unless I'm mistaken was not in Bladerunner, the actresses were: Daryl Hannah (Pris), Joanna Cassidy (Zhora Salome), and Mary Sean Young (Rachel).

Not sure about that!
I remember her in the Battle of Britain.
Christopher Plummer walks out on here in this scene.

He must have been mad!

@Duchess64

A sort of adult 'Lord of the Flies'

York was excellent in 'The Killing Of Sister George', slightly controversial story involving a lesbian relationship, York and the older 'George', played by Beryl Reid , who really should have won the Oscar that year

My brother was in that movie. I think he was left on the cutting room floor

When this is all over and they figure out what the covid death rate would’ve been without the lockdown
They never will. We haven't had a world without lockdown. All we can count is the deaths caused by the lockdown (many, although this will never be admitted) and the China-virus deaths happening despite the lockdown (also many). The deaths prevented by the lockdown are a complete guess, but will be reported - with no evidence behind it at all - as being hundreds of times the deaths now occurring.

The economic downturn was due to bad advice that most leftists believe was true.

No dancing for the small business owners who lost their businesses.
Be honest, now.

Leftist believed it to be true.
Rightist (Libertarians even more than the rest of them) knew it to be false, but still wanted to follow it because the economic downturn for the down-trodden is financially good for the RepubLibertariards.

The major companies could only get the money due to the lockdown.
Which is exactly why libertarians love the lockdown.

The hardship is unnecessary, why are rents being collected during a lock down?
Why is maintenance being performed during lockdown?
Why are water and electricity being supplied during lockdown?
Why aren't landlords dying of starvation during lockdown?

There are a lot of landlord profiteers, but there are also a lot of deadbeats thinking they have a right to a free lunch because of a disease they don't have.

As America faces an economic downturn not seen since the great depression of the 1930's, states are slowly opening again, hoping to minimize the massive unemployment and economic hardship that has gripped the country. Look for 2 things to happen this summer:

1. The economic numbers, that have been horrible of late, will begin to improve modestly, as some people go back to ...[text shortened]... nt of the economic pain will be felt by the poor.

Nevertheless. The dancing will begin soon -
If only Trump had mobilized all American January 1st instead of defending himself against a Shampeachment. We could have had a safe, effective vaccine by February 1st. Since he failed to act, now it's going to take at least 18 months and will probably be unsafe.

Or, perhaps he could have isolated America, closing all borders on January 1st. I'm sure the Democrats would have for this one time in 3 years have realized that Trump was doing something good and supported him.
