Let it be resolved that in light of the Enlightenment, Abrahamic Faith in any form is a superstitious and pernicious blight on our country and an affront to its reason-guided principles, and let it further be resolved that we should send all Muslims, Christians, and Jews back to the Holy Land where they belong.

L. Ron needed the basis for a religion so he could dodge paying taxes, so he just made up the rest, including "worshipping" the space aliens. He has a few sci-fi stories to his name. This is just an extension of the same brain that wrote those.
