There's been a massive bank robbery in Ireland. 20 million euros or so were stolen! Pretty impressive, that must be about half the cash in the bloody country.
Anyways, one or other top policeman has come out and said (without showing any evidence) that the theft was carried out by the IRA.
Ian Paisley, who, in my view, has been stalling the peace process, has jumped up, as high as his arthrictic legs could propel him, to denounce the IRA as a bunch of criminals who he can't deal with and that the peace process is dead.
Obviously there is a difference between the IRA and Sinn Fein and there's been no evidence shown...what-so-ever.
So, what do people make of this situation? Is it the right-wing protestants playing their aged old game of blaming catholics for everything just to keep the status-quo? Or are they justified in trying to get Sinn Fein excluded from the peace process for a crime the IRA may or may not have committed?

Such accusations and counter accusations are the daily bread of the peace process and as long as it is only one police chap hopedully it will blow over.
A curious thing is IF it is the IRA it might be a good thing for the process Following this logic:-
The IRA are negotiating decomissioning, they have agreed to detsroy their weapons as far as I understand it is just the detail about how this is proved without making them loose to much face and appear to have surrendered.
The end of their weapons is a signficant step in the end of the IRA as a paramilitary organisation.
When the organisation ends they will have to go and get proper jobs, maybe this is a retirement robbery by a section of the IRA that want to retire and dont fancy working for a living or becoming a splinter group like the 'Real IRA'.
Of course IF it is for the IRA coffers you can buy a lot of nasty stuff with 20 million Euros and it could be the start of some kind of relaunch by a section of the IRA that have decided they dont want to stop the fight yet.

If there was a murder in Amsterdam, and a top police commissioner came out and said 'I've a feelin in me bonesh that Shavixmir is behind the murder', how long would he last?
Typical RUC smear tactics.

A totally new organisations revitalised by a change of name.
In the past it may have been smear tactics but now anything they say is as gospel as another police service.
All the officers have dropped their bias and are now good and pure.

It will be interesting if the IRA didn`t do it, because maybe this accusation will force them to help find out who did do it.
What a massive positive public relationions manouver.
IRA catches criminals and hands back stolen money. They would be a new type of hero if the unionists would allow them to take the credit.
Originally posted by DeepfaultThe Unionists would probably claim that the IRA took the money, set up a couple of fall guys, 'helped' find the money, and then used this positive PR to get an better deal than the Good Friday agreement.
