How are we doing? Life spans are the highest ever. Air and water are cleaner than they were a hundred years ago. We are breeding faster than ever in poor areas and dying out from under breeding in rich areas.

Seems like nature is doing a good job of assuring maximum diversity all on it's own. And it seems that nature rather prefers stressful conditions such as starvation and diseased populations in which to work it's magic.

Is nature cruel? Are humans capable of controlling their own destiny in the real long run of our specific species life span?

People of the world can speak directly to one another these days. Yet it seems that the things they choose to say are bellicose and tribal.

For this thread to mean anything, one must have sat at a common bowl of food in the third world or eaten from the communal pot with a family who's wealth is counted in sheep and goats.

I rather like these poor souls more than I like rich people.

I am filled with sorrow when I see the rot that has become universal in "modern" society because our lives have no challenge. I am filled with hope in the family I lived with in Mali who tended their sheep and thought themselves rich.

You know what I found interesting? I could swear that these things are goats. But our translators all insisted that they were sheep.

They are everywhere. More "sheep" than people, it seems. You really have to watch where you walk, even in-town. And the universal smell takes a bit of getting used to.

I'm sure that something can be arranged for you if you have a few dollars.

How is the weather there in the bay area?

Sorry SVW, this forum is taking it's toll on me.
It was a really nice post unfortunatley it seems that these kind
of messages do nothing more than stoke the fire of human
impotence and end in the same result...laughter or tears.

You get a rec. That is entirely the point. If we don't laugh AND cry we are just pointless lawyers or pointy headed professors.

Are their heads really pointy or is it just a figure of speech? And quickly, this is a life or death matter!😛 I could be impaled tomorrow for the love of Jiminy Cricket!
