Why not have a global effort to write a new bible for the age of Aquarius?
Including books from every culture and religion about the great
men and great tragedies since the last bible was written.

great idea!

the only problem is getting folks to agree

- of course it is possible that when we all distill our ethics they become the same.

They don't have to agree, just talk and listen.
Even that would be enough.

The project is well underway. But instead of using the outmoded term "bible", they call it "Wikipedia". It is the repository of all knowledge.

the wikipedia contains lots of stuff - too much stuff.

it is just as diverse and confusing as the real world - everywhere you see(possible) truth - but it has no guidelines.

the important bit is to refine and distil something that is accessible to a real human in real time ... preferably less than half an hour per week.

what is the condensed version - the essential reading of importance?

Truth is seldom easy, my son. It's pursuit is a life's work.

In the absence of 'Truth', the bible can provide comfort.

What's the essence of the New Testament, really? Need a New Age Bible contain much more than the Golden Mean translated into every language?

Because the book would result in a "tower of babble" with multiple false-salvation plans and plenty of biases from fallable man and the pseudo-religions created over the millenia. The only book that Man needs today, tomorrow, and until Christ returns is the Holy Bible, and the New Testament in particular, written by God-inspired men. Inside its covers are answers to every problem mankind has, and will, ever encounter. There are enough History books and newspaper publications to outline the actions of great men/women, the shortcomings and the tragedies that have ensued since the Bible was finished, and the current downward spiral that morally-corrupt mankind finds itself these days....this is just my opinion, and is not meant to offend non-Christians, as I respect people of all religions and seek to live in harmony with them without persecution....

I thought Priscilla was the author of Hebrews, as well as the key progenitor of Pauline theology.

I couldn't find any evidence of "Priscilla" being the author of Hebrew, and I'm not to "enlightened" on the Pauline theory...care to elaborate?

Priscilla is the author, silly.

Pauline theology refers to the beliefs of Saint Paul, which differs in certain critical aspects from the theology and Christology of the original Apostles.

I think we can agree that there has been no greater work of influence since the bible.
But the bible itself could be fallable in its entirety.
It was passed down through generations by word of mouth. If we are to believe that which is written is absolutely true, as many religions do, then we must have as much faith in the authors divinity as we do in Christ.

If we are to put as much faith in these men then we should put the same in todays 'God-inspired men'.

So what if it does contain false-salvation, bias and pseudo religion? It will then be an accurate portrayal of the world as it is and has been.

Inside its covers are NOT the answers to every problem. The last chapter speaks of the end of days. The judgement of mankind for his sins and armageddon. That's a pretty big problem to me.

Oh, Ok, yes, "silly me" then....my bad....I still don't have a formed opinion on your observation...I'll look into it...seems heavy, though as I like to keep the Bible as simple as possible....the simpler the message, the greater comprehension...thanks

The Tower of Babel. I always thought that was a funny story. It is especially funny when you ponder it while flying at 30,000+ feet in a jet.
