    The Obama Deception (2009) (Video)

The film claims Obama's real agenda is the opposite of what he promised during the campaign. The film claims Wall Street engineered the financial collapse in order to "repo the country" and that Obama is a front-man used by "the elite" to serve their agenda. It claims Obama has broken his campaign promises by sending more troops to Afghanistan, appointed numerous "finance oligarchs" and lobbyists to high government positions, reauthorized the Patriot Act first enacted by the Bush administration, and wants to create a "civilian national security force" to further militarize the country. The film makes a controversial comparison between Barack Obama and Adolf Hitler's ascent to power.

Just a couple off the top of my head.

"Obama has broken his campaign promises by sending more troops to Afghanistan"

Obama promised TO send more troops into Afghanistan. This is common knowledge as it was a major part of his platform. In fact, Obama was one of the first to speak out about how Iraq distracted us from the real war on terrorism, and that Afghanistan has been neglected as a result. He repeatedly called for more troops in that region.

"and wants to create a "civilian national security force" to further militarize the country."

One of many, many myths pushed by the right by blatently taking something out of context. He was talking about the expansion of such organizations like the AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps.

    ______

Obama, July 2, Colorado Springs, CO: [As] president I will expand AmeriCorps to 250,000 slots [from 75,000] and make that increased service a vehicle to meet national goals, like providing health care and education, saving our planet and restoring our standing in the world, so that citizens see their effort connected to a common purpose.

People of all ages, stations and skills will be asked to serve. Because when it comes to the challenges we face, the American people are not the problem – they are the answer. So we are going to send more college graduates to teach and mentor our young people. We'll call on Americans to join an energy corps, to conduct renewable energy and environmental clean-up projects in their neighborhoods all across the country.

We will enlist our veterans to find jobs and support for other vets, and to be there for our military families. And we're going to grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy. We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set.

We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded. We need to use technology to connect people to service. We'll expand USA Freedom Corps to create online networks where American can browse opportunities to volunteer. You'll be able to search by category, time commitment and skill sets. You'll be able to rate service opportunities, build service networks, and create your own service pages to track your hours and activities.

This will empower more Americans to craft their own service agenda and make their own change from the bottom up.
    _____

Yep, another lying, sleezy hit peice.

Worried about what the Cannes Festival thinks? And all these cut & pastes - rather than your own views and thoughts. You wear your intellectual insecurity right there on your sleeve, don't you ? On another thread, right now, you seem to want to illustrate this - while passing it off as 'analysis' - by steadfastly NOT reading something you might disgree with. LOL.

Yes, by the right. I don't care who (else) pushes that myth, the fact remains it's one of many quotes the RIGHT dishonestly pulls out of context to change its meaning.

I provided the context, and everyone can clearly see Obama was NOT talking about forming some militant civilian oranization.

PS: I'm glad you enjoyed the film.

I did not try to pretend the article provided in the Minimum Wage thread wasn't a "hit piece". I invited people to debate it's validity - or "honesty", if you want.

zeeblebot, for all his zillion spammy cuts & pastes, cannot differentiate between what purports to be a documentary/factual text and what purports to be an opinion/polemical piece.

you can't label the whole administration as a "deception", it has just started, nobody knows how things will turn out in the end.
