Does China's record on human rights bother you? For me it does but still think it would be unfair to boycott the olympics because athletes train for this and for us to take away their chance is just as unfair!! Let me know what ye think??

Boycotts should be an individual choice--not a national one. Carter was wrong to deny those athletes in 1980 by boycotting Moscow, and it'd be wrong to do so now.

I can imagine no greater waste of money and a greater boring waste time than is exemplified by these 'Games'.

the problem is why did they designate china to hold the olympic games? once they gave them the 2008, it as as if they accepted the situation in tibet and the Tienanmen incident(massacre).

on the other hand, china did make some progress(some) and what better way for comming together as humans than the olympic games.

either way you look at it, there are advantages and disadvantages for having beijing as host. but now all that matters is to remove all political bs from the games and focus on what is important. human beings competing.

I say we boycott the entire planet earth from the Olympic games. The whole lot of them are unworthy to host the games if you ask me.

BTW: Does anyone know the purpose of the Olympics other than provding "entertainment" for people like Kirk?

Are you talking about the Olympics in general or beach volleyball?

Is it me the only person who finds it amusing that the only games a US president has been present for at the opening ceremony not on US soil, has been at this the 29th Olympiad, the Beijing Olympics. What does that say about the two cultures that an American President is comfortable being part of the crowd of???

This may answer your question, but also may be one of the greatest pics of all time for Bush. Feel free to add your caption for the pic.
