How does this reflect upon Donald Trump? In the truest sense of the word, this reflecting pool reflects his whole life, not only his presidency.
One, a vanity project.
Two, somebody else pays for it.
Three, the no-bids contract goes to a crony. Perfectly acceptable in business, totally unacceptable in government.
Four, the work is shoddy, poorly planned, poorly researched, poorly carried out. Paint started flaking off days after it was finished.
Five, Trump falsely blames political opponents for what went wrong. (It was wrong from the gitgo, actually.)
Six, the repair is shoddy too. In the article linked below, there is a photo of a common garden hose draining green water into the city sewer system; one can only smirk "so, this is what Trump meant by 'draining the swamp.'"
Seven, his acolytes deflect from the fiasco of the reflecting pool by claiming he won a war which he lost.
