Vietnam all over again. The Taliban is just like the communist Viets, more grit and determination and there is nothing that will stop these bastards from OWNING Afghanistan.
That said, we can't just keep sending more thousands of troops there to stop the inevitable. A TERRIBLE inevitability for sure, women will be suppressed forever, boys ripped from families and forced to be Taliban fighters.
But the USA is not the cop shop of the world. If it was decided to do something militarily, it would have to be a coalition of all the western countries with a couple million army to beat back these creeps from the 12th century.

But our doing so and then retreating has created a situation worse than before. Especially for the people who supported the West there (which is quite a lot, because most people actually don’t like the Taliban).

The whole situation there was started when we attacked Iraq for no reason at all when President Chaney ( I say that because Bush Jr was an idiot and Chaney ran the country) said there were weapons of mass destruction and that led to the war that made the middle eastern Taliban types ten times stronger.
Just like the US fukked up with prohibition of alcohol, all that happened was the Mafia grew from small stakes to big time and were firmly in place with their corruption when prohibition was repealed.
Then they tried the same tactic with marijuana, Anslinger was a frothing at the mouth white nationalist and he started the anti marijuana campaign with help from other sources, a weapon against blacks and especially his HATED Jazz musicians. So a joint on you is worth 40 years in prison. LITERALLY.
Funny how they try to say marijuana is the gateway drug but the real gateways are tobacco and alcohol but big business didn't like to have their killing products suppressed but instead, sold everywhere like candy.
