@Metal-Brain
And OF COURSE you would doubt anything going on with Laden, since it was the fault of the US that attack happened. Oh wait, I forgot, that was an inside CIA job, there was no jet attacking the towers or the pentagon, right?
@shavixmir saidLet Putin deal with them? The Taliban is closer to Russia than to the US.
Good grief.
They’re making gains fast.
20 years the West was there and then in a few weeks after they leave the Taliban have overrun 1/3 of the country???
How the hell is that even possible?
What should be done?
@Kevin-Eleven
Wouldn't THAT be something. So the Taliban complete their evil takeover of Afghanistan then sets sight on Russia....I wonder how THAT would turn out?
@kevin-eleven saidYou don’t seriouslu think Russia is ever going anywhere near Afghanistan again, do you?
Let Putin deal with them? The Taliban is closer to Russia than to the US.
@shavixmir
So, Kabul falls even before the Americans have left. What an embarrassment, for the US as well as for the Afghans, government and military on both sides.
The Afghan security forces proved to be utter cowards; there are multiple reports of the Afghan army simply walking away from towns they were supposed to defend and towns surrendering without a fight. 20 years of military training for naught.
Part of me grieves for the Afghan people, especially for the women and girls. Another part of me says, a people who haven't the courage to fight for their liberty deserve to be ruled by tyrants.
With hindsight, it is clear how the US should have pursued the Afghan campaign: the Kurds were the only people tough enough to defeat IS, so the US should have promised the Kurds a homeland in exchange for defeating the Taliban. And the US should damn well have kept the promise !
@shavixmir saidyet you defend biden allowing them to do it… a little wishy washy there arent you?
So… uh… just wondering… how much money did the US invest in weapons for the Afghan army?
And now that the Taliban own all those weapons, is that a wise investment?
@mott-the-hoople saidHow was he going to stop it?
yet you defend biden allowing them to do it… a little wishy washy there arent you?
@no1marauder saidWell in the case of Iraq there was no need to do anything at all but if someone in the pentagon or White House decided they had to then anything short of a full military invasion would have been a better option. Taking out a whole country to topple one man and his inner circle doesn’t make any sense in an era of remote and reasonably accurate options.
Certain people are in power in a country for a reason. Murdering them doesn't change those reasons.
@athousandyoung said^^ What HE said. This war was an unpopular Western/Israeli intervention all along.
There's nobody native to the country who is able and willing to fight them.
End of thread.
@sonhouse saidHow about Saudi Arabia? I understand women have recently gotten the right to drive a car. Whoooo hooooo!
@Earl-of-Trumps
End of women's rights in Afghanistan is what it is and THAT is just beginning.
Lots of countries have neither gay or women's rights. Want to invade them all, Captain America?
