Iranian aid ships going to Gaza escorted by warships
First Iran tried to offer their warships to escort another convoy of boats to Gaza and Hamas refused (which of course explains the little attention given to Iran's first attempt by the mass media). Now Iran is saying that they'll send their own humanitarian help escorted by their warships:
I feel tempted to appalud their act of defiance, but I know that if this goes ahead things won't look to good for the world...

I hope that common sence will stop them from attempting. And if common sence is in short supply, the fact that even the Hamas - isolated as they are - did not accept the offer should tell them how crazy this idea is.
This here calls for a solution backed by the major powers and not a private war.

Ps: In the other thread I linked three videos that show that the IDF shot and killed people before entering Mavi Marmara.

Add to that that they don't control the borders to the part of the Palestinian Territory they govern.
Thats isolated in my book, but other terms may apply ??
Thanks for the video links for the Mavi Marmara, will try and review them at a later opportunity.

Again, this is just calling the world's attention to the illogic of the Israeli position. If the Israelis say, "We don't allow commerce with that part of our country called Gaza," then people can say, "But then you are guilty of discrimination and collective punishment -- of running a vast concentration camp." BUT if the Israelis say, "Gaza is a separate nation from us with whom we are at war and blockading," then they have:
1) de facto recognized Gaza as a separate nation,
2) to explain why they are continually attacking Gaza when Gaza poses no creditable military threat (a few poorly-aimed rockets of limited range is not a threat).
3) created a case for UN peace keepers to take over which will end the blockade immediately.
Naturally, the Israelis don't accept any of this. They just wants things 'their way' and no other way matters. I have to say, Israel does not have a very mature viewpoint on the situation -- more like that of a spoiled little child who keeps saying, "No! No!" to every proposal their parents make.
Such kids eventually get a time out.

The good is (if I use the word very losely) is that the world has to do something. To stop the situation. To solve the conflict in Israel and its neighbours, once and for all.
If the world is doing nothing, then everything will go up in fire with unnumerous people dead.
Originally posted by adam warlockthey know that israel is going to get a bad press regardless of what they do, but I really don't see why they would want to such lengths to aid gaza, they probably don't care that much.

I doubt Israel would react violently, not after what just happened with the activists dead and the subsequent criticism.

what exactly is the "world" (you probably mean the US here) supposed to do? israel won't budge, so I guess the logical thing to do is to nuke them.
Originally posted by generalissimoWith world I mean USA, yes, but also EU, and all other powers wanting a stable peace in the area.

Nuking them is not a solution. I would prefer a peaceful solution where both sides can benefit the fruit of peace.
Originally posted by FabianFnasThe US is the main world-power that is interested in the region because they benefit from it, thats the reason why they support israel, no other country (in the EU or elsewhere) has this degree of involvement in the region. They can't possibly do anything to improve the situation.

yes ideally that would be the case.
