One term. Undermined by 'patriots' at every turn. Like Carter.
Somebody better order more Enzyte.
The media (everyone but Fox)has been pumping Obama from day one. It is really rather pathetic, from the morning show turning red states blue telling everyone what states are going to go Obama's way so that he'll win, to David Letterman crowning Obama as the "right choice".
As long as the media continues to hype, the American people will follow.

Regardless of what he does, the counter liberal machine will ramp up into overdrive and try and make a meal out of every perceived failure he makes. As long as he does not feel compelled to be a man for all seasons.
Happy glow will wear off soon enough, as soon as everyone realizes nothing's really changed.
W swung the pendulum that far too the right, that if he appears too calm and centrist he will be perceived as lacklustre and being unable to walk the talk. Inevitably with so much expectation laid on him he is bound to fail at some point in peoples perceptions. The trick is to achieve something fundamental in his first 100 days. If he moves fast and decisively by the time the dust clears and they try and pin a tail on his donkey and lumber him with some scandal or other he will already have achieved something worthwhile..

I will add that with all the unknowns he brings, there is one thing that is absolutely known. He is a product of the Chicago machine. Anyone interested in knowing about him needs to study that machine. I don't say that in the perjorative sense.
The machine took him in, paid for his education at Harvard, paid for his early political success, put him in the committee that elected the current Illinois governor and paid for ... and more importantly promoted him, into the US Senate from Illinois.
This is not unusual in any way. Almost all politicians are part of some "machine". I am just saying that there is nothing "unknowable" about Obama. Study Chicago politics. He is not a child of god, but he is a child of that environment.
Originally posted by buckkyThere is little chance he'll manage to come out of this dung heap smelling of roses. Bush+Britain+Israel have done just about all the damage that it's possible to do in politics over the last 8 years. If he breaks the strangle hold that Oil/Arms/Banks have over our lives, THEN he'll be the Messiah he's been built up to be. I suspect he'll simply preside over the current shambolic rich mans World same as all the rest...
The country is really going crazy in it's throwing out the welcome mat for Obama. Like no other President to be I've seen. Hope for something better is burning bright.
Originally posted by StarValleyWyIn Australia we have the same thing operating, and it seems the pejorative assault on any given machine from any given side usually occurs when the other, is in ascendancy. For the most part these machines are ineffectual because of factionalism, and some of the worst excesses that they bequeath are all the special internal interests that need to be served for any consensus to be reached. When it really bites is when the factions start openly brawling and the machine seems in total disarray. But when an anointed comes along and real victory seems more than just a possibility, then its actually quite dizzying how rapidly the factions can almost seamlessly switch from antagonistic to perfectly aligned, well coordinated and complimentary action, and what may at first seem like an inefficient run down artefact from a bygone era, the machine thus transformed will suddenly present as an irresistible compact of power. At least while the factional fiefs feel that the "one's" countenance still shines on them. 😉

What are you doing for Obama day?

Flying my American flag upside down.
I’ll be vomiting. Thanks for asking.
I will be on duty with the National Guard. And wearing a black armband beneath my uniform.
Shoot .45 caliber holes in UN flag targets at the range.
I will pray for our once great country. I will listen to Rush and Mark Levin.
When Sara Palin is being sworn in, will there be this much hoo-ha-ha?
I’m already teary eyed about the whole mess. I’ve never felt this bad about someone coming into office as I do about Obama. I have a terrible knot in my stomach. What lunacy has come on this country!
I plan to cling to my God and my guns. I believe I will need them more than ever in the coming conflict.
I will not watch the inauguration. I didn’t watch the debates, nor the primaries, nor the caucuses, nor much of the election returns. From the very first primary until now I only heard Obama’s voice about four times on TV, and they were during commercials that ran while my roommate had the TV on.
