The post that was quoted here has been removedAs for the British empire... I presume the people feeling proud of it are English?
I don’t think you’ll find much pride about it in Scotland or Catholic Northern Ireland.
However, I don’t think you’ll find much shame either. Take me for example: I was born in 1971... I had fukk all to do with the empire (other than in Star Wars). I don’t feel responsible for it, I don’t feel it had anything to do with me, there’s nothing I could do to influence it and most of it ended way before I was born.
Take modern imperialism; which is now called regime change or whatever, for example: the war waged in Afghanistan. By the Brits.
It angers me. I opposed it. I voted every oppertunity for political parties which opposed it. I argued the living daylights out of it.
I don’t feel shame about it though. It wasn’t me. It wasn’t done with my consent. I did not participate.
Your whole spiel about average white Westerners and racism and collective guilt is all absolute rubbish.
Is there anti-Chinese racism in Britain?
Probably. There’s anti-Frenchism, anti-Europeanism, anti-Islamism, anti-Catholicism. It would be really racist of the English to exclude the Chinese from their list of hatred...
@shavixmir saidAnd you can probably add anti-Americanism to the list.

All humans are xenophobic, because it was a survival skill learned by prehistoric humans. Fear of "the other" helped them avoid dangers.
Cannibalism was also a survival skill, but almost all humans eventually learned that there were other options.
We can't stamp out xenophobia altogether any more than we could stamp out cannibalism, but surely we can learn that there other options.
@Duchess64
What do you mean "May'' surpass the US? Right now our GDP is in the toilet thanks to Trump so he has led the way to making China #1 now.
We probably will never get back to #1 any more, Trump has managed to mismanage our country so badly we may never fully recover.
And part of the blame is the US citizen, this really stupid fight going on politicalizing the idea of wearing a mask which clearly has a good effect on stopping the spread of the virus but I have seen video footage of shop owners saying if you wear a mask you can't come into our store. That attitude is what is killing the US and will never go away in spite of BLM and the like.
The thread of racism is too deep to have any sort of change in the behavior of the racists in our society.
It will take the death of the hangers on of the old racist ways to make any difference in the long run so it is a matter of who lives the longest and passes on their racist belief's to their children.
Five MILLION with C19 now in the US, like 20 percent of the entire planet even though we are only 4 Percent of the total world population.
165,000 dead and rising at the rate of a thousand a day.
Yet Trump continues to put down his own health experts like Fauci and Berx.
This is a weak man not fit for ANY government office much less POTUS.

I noticed that "shippingtest" came back, coincidentally, on the same day. π

The post that was quoted here has been removedWhat’s that got to do with me or the current generation of Carholic Irish and Scots?
Nearly every English person I know opposes modern imperalism, has never participated in it and does not approve of Britain’s history on such matters.
Now, explain to us all why I can’t have an opinion on Chinese politics. You can’t, because I can and do.
It’s not hypocrite.
What is hypocrite is you saying Western people can’t have an opinion without being hypocrite, yet you have no problems spoutinf mad generalizations about white Western males in every thread you participate in.
