@Earl-of-Trumps saidYou're a poet without even knowing it.
Tom Brady bought a yacht,
It cost even more than we thought.
But the taxpayer is there - fear not,
Somebody bought Tom Brady a yacht.
The End. 😉
An heir to a crown who acts like a clown.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidSorry, I have these socialists swarming. Just think….in the big picture, they unabashedly want your stuff, my stuff, that of my grandkids that I have spent my life saving up for.
@AverageJoe1
relax, Joe. just funnin' around
The kids will not get pregnant because I know what I am doing. YOU will not have to buy their abortions. These ghouls don’t care. They will be at your door.
Yep, swarming. Next they will want me to pay for their bus rides. I always paid for mine to get to my paper route. Losers.
@AverageJoe1 saidYeah, you're like some big mosquito bulb on the evening porch of life. 😉
Sorry, I have these socialists swarming.
@wildgrass saidBernie says that a lot. ‘people don’t need that much money”. They asked him how much people need, he with his millions, ,,,,,,,,,how much do you think Brady needs? Would it be enough to buy a yacht?!?!? WGrass.? How much? Should he even be allowed to buy one? Does one need a yacht, Wildgrass?
My original post explained in detail.
Obviously Tom wasn't the only one to benefit from this. It was an enormous sum of money in total, mostly going to the affluent in our society who definitely did not need the money as much as poor people who cannot afford food or health care.
Will you comment now, let rubber meet the road.
And define ‘the enormous sum of money “ you refer to. If it was given legally, then don’t bother. And what would “others benefitting from this’ have to do with Brady legally buying a yacht?
Geez. You all are so overwrought.
@AverageJoe1 saidIf you don't know the amount, check the first post I already referred you to. Yet again, yes it was legal.

No one is upset that he bought a yacht. But everyone who pays taxes should be upset that he used tax dollars to pay for his yacht. Especially considering all the hand wringing by Republicans that we as a society can no longer afford to feed people who are unable to feed themselves.
But we can afford handouts for the wealthy.
@wildgrass saidThere doesn't seem to be any evidence that Brady used the PPP money - which went to a company he's part owner of not to him personally - to buy a yacht. https://www.sportskeeda.com/nfl/news-infuriating-details-reveal-tom-brady-took-960k-ppp-loan-days-buying-multi-million-dollar-boat

Brady and his wife at the time supermodel Gisele Bündchen had plenty of money available to buy a $6 million yacht - he made $37.5 million that year and she made even more.
EDIT: "Word too long" BS again. There is a link in the first article to the second if you click on the words "the superstar quarterback purchased a 40-foot yacht".
@no1marauder saidExactly.
The PPP was an excellent idea meant to help small businesses survive through the COVID crisis. Unfortunately, when most of the loans were distributed it was being administered by the corrupt Treasury Department under Steve Mnuchin.

@AverageJoe1 saidYou are not very smart, she is a lot smarter.
And be careful what you wish for. You people with no econ sense do not think past getting someone else's money, dont you see. We NEED the loopholes and subsidies to run this country. Some farmers who make the french fries at your Pub will cease to exist......no french fries. They gotta have subsidies. Ask Suianne, she will explain it to you. You are not very smart, she is a lot smarter.
Right, you are Joe. I must be pretty dumb.
@no1marauder saidYes, thankyou. Wildgrass as usual cherry picks a story and leaves out points which would render his OP a bit weak. And, it was all legal, and it was under Biden, if I may cherry-pick that seminal point.

So, to recap, though an imperfect allocation of funds, Brady's company legally got the funds. As to Wildgrass, theoretically, he seems to suggest that Brady's company, or Brady himself, return the funds? Like, if Sonhouse got $200k and bought a recording studio, would sonhouse return the money? Does Wildgrass demand Sonhouse return the money? It is all legal. Get mad at the drafters of the Plan, don't get mad at Brady and Sonhouse.
@AverageJoe1 saidThe dispersal of the loan was in April 2020 under Trump, not Biden.

@no1marauder saidOf course, but the ADMINISTRATION of the funds, ,,,willy-nilly?!??!!? Was done by Biden and his lieutenants. Did it not go haywire after it was put in action by the Trump Admin, with a legitimate purpose?

Hey, while I have you, will you keep Shav, sue, et al in line with the ensuing debate about Mamdani acting as NYC mayor? They misstate a lot of facts, and it is time-consuming to clean up their posts.

I don't really get your defense of these loans. If a SNAP recipient gets a few hundred bucks for groceries and also needs a phone upgrade, he/she is villified for buying it.
But Tom Brady and the thousands of other wealthy people getting free money to perpetuate lavish lifestyles? They truly didn't demonstrate a need for this money, as evidenced by a yacht purchase in the same time frame.
Of course Tom could afford the yacht. Why's he also a welfare recipient?

@AverageJoe1 saidWrong. It was the Trump administration which oversaw the vast majority of PPP loans.
