True, this SCOTUS is a particularly lawless court, but it is utterly unheard of for the Court to intervene in a sentencing after conviction in a State criminal case.
Well, the SCOTUS turned down the attempt to delay the sentencing, but only by a 5-4 vote.

It is truly shocking how far the right wingers on the Court are willing to ignore all legal precedent and principles to do Trump's binding. This should have been an easy 9-0.

Judge Marchan did a fine job in pre-trial proceedings and at the trial in May where Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of a felony offense. But his post-trial actions have been filled with errors based on too little respect for the law and too much deference to the convicted criminal in the case.

Trump should have been sentenced in September. Marchan taking into accou ...[text shortened]... n sentence is not viable, then Trump should at least receive a hefty fine and a period of probation.
It was law fare.

None of those convictions are consistent with precedent. Hillary Clinton misused campaign funds to create the Steele Dossier and was slapped on the wrist with a mere fine. When Trump did it what happened? He became a felon.

Why wasn't Hitlery Clinton found guilty of 34 counts of a felony offense?
The two tiered justice system is obvious. Stop defending it.

Just. Stop. Lying.

Just like they ignored precedent with the Dobbs decision. These guys like denying history in pretending prior Justices had no idea what they were doing. Sounds like someone else we know. Alito and possibly Thomas should recuse themselves permanently.

The Clinton campaign hired Perkins Coie, which then hired Fusion GPS, a research and intelligence firm, to conduct opposition research on Republican candidate Donald Trump’s ties to Russia. But on FEC forms, the Clinton campaign classified the spending as legal services.

“By intentionally obscuring their payments through Perkins Coie and failing to publicly disclose the true purpose of those payments,” the campaign and DNC “were able to avoid publicly reporting on their statutorily required FEC disclosure forms the fact that they were paying Fusion GPS to perform opposition research on Trump with the intent of influencing the outcome of the 2016 presidential election,” the initial complaint had read.

No different than what Trump did as far as being unlawful. Trump found guilty on 34 counts, Hitlery got a mere fine. Obvious injustice.

Opposition research. Trump broke the law.

It is what it is.

It matters what it was for?
Paying hush money does not make it more unlawful.

The Steele dossier was not really opposition research. Hitlery paid Fusion GPS to lie about Trump and use it to spy on Carter Page. That makes it far worse in fact. She used the lies to attempt a coup. An insurrection using law fare.

Remember when you thought digging up dirt on Hillary was a horrible outrage? Then you found out it was common opposition research.....from me. FOOL!

Anyway, none of these right wing posts are even relevant to the subject of this thread. All concern issues that will be dealt with on appeal.

The subject of the thread is given that Donald Trump has been convicted by a jury of 34 separate counts of a felony, what should his sentence be? Say the defendant in this case wasn't named Donald Trump, what would a reasonable expectation be for sentencing given the facts of the case and defendant's actions?
A fine just like Hitlery Clinton got for the same offense.

Why wasn't Michelle Obama at Carter's funeral? Barack was there having a good ol time talking to Trump. Look at the picture of Barack laughing while talking to Trump.

Of course it matters.

One shows normal campaigning.

Trump's insurrection was him trying to illegally hold onto power.

Big difference. Fool.

Since we've covered this false whataboutism about a dozen times already, you're just doing what you always do - trolling with Trump apologia.

But one more time:

If you had even bothered to read your own link, you'd see that HRC wasn't accused of any wrongdoing. Her campaign and the DNC settled a complaint regarding their filings with the FEC. That's normally what happens when the FEC determines that some filing was incorrect for technical reasons; the campaign (not the candidate) pays a civil fine.

By contrast, where individuals conspire to produce dozens of false business records to conceal their commission of a crime, they are usually criminally prosecuted.

Sure, that's "two tiered"; our legal system actually has many tiers depending on the wrongdoing alleged.

Hope that helps.
