OSLO (Reuters) - A Norwegian lawmaker has nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2021 for helping broker a deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, the second time he has put forward the U.S. president for the honor.

Thousands of people are eligible to nominate candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, including members of parliaments and governments, university professors and past laureates.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee, which decides on the award, declined to comment.

He wouldn't be the first recipient who didn't really deserve the Prize. Obama Comes to mind. I don't think he was in the same class as Trump, but the Nobel then was more on promise than on results.
Trump himself might see it as an entitlement.

Trump should be put into the Hall of Shame.

And @vivify, this is yet another shameful act the POTUS did for Israel.
But all I hear in here is "Russia Russia Russia"

Not saying he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize but peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is a significant positive occurrence.

This highlights Duchess' ignorance of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

If the Palestinians were suddenly no longer under a blockade, Duchess apparently believes all tension between Arabs and Israelis would disappear.

How the "international" community feels about Israel isn't the same as how Arabs feel about Israel.

    Is it?
Peace with a strategic ally of the US?
One might wonder what the UAE’s position is on Iran...
Or one might whisper: Habshan–Fujairah oil pipeline...

One might even consider closer relations between Israel and the UAE as an act of aggression in the region...

    Just saying.
Nominating trump for this little diplomatic disaster-in-waiting is the same as nominating trumpy-frump for a peace prize because he moved the embassy to Jerusalem...

Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat shared the Nobel for their agreements on the Camp David Accords of 1978. The agreements led directly to the 1979 Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty. US President Jimmy Carter, who facilitated these talks, did not share in the Nobel.

    Just sayin'.

Ending an actual war like the one in Yemen, would be a bit more "significant" and "positive" than "ending" the non-existent one between the UAE and Israel. But Trump vetoed a resolution passed by Congress that would have ended US support for Saudi aggression there.https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-47958014
