Yesterday Zelensky “cleansed” Ukraine of politicians with a double nationality (if that double was Russian).
“Cleansed” is the translation of the actual word he used.

This combined with his constant threatening attitude towards the West does not boost my confidence in us supporting him.

So the fact that it was Russia that attacked Ukraine.
The most important fact is that Putin knew he was starting a proxy war with nato and the ‘west’ and if you stand back and capitulate to Putin. It might not result in an all out war down the line but at the very least Putin will take it as a given this he would get extract all sorts urine out of the west and we won’t do a thing.
Talking about freedom of speech and human rights abuses in regard to a nation thats fighting Russia single handed is a bit like complaining about the guy not having a shower before he wrestles with a pig in a sewer.
Russian citizens are every bit due the respect and care that anyone else would want for themselves so this is something to be concerned about, it is something the west would be morally complicit with. If the point of this is partly about Ukraines entry into the EU then if true would be self defeating in terms of that.
Perhaps the Ukrainians just want to literally survive Putin’s advance west.
