I thought this topic would catch the eye of Average Joe, but if it did he is not biting. He does not want to explain why water costs more than soda pop. He would have to admit the free market is not a free market at all. Capitalism has the same flaws socialism has. Central control.
Adding corn sweetener should not make water cheaper. It is retarded. Crony capitalism is just as bad as socialism. Probably worse since government is subsidizing junk food like sugar water that ruins people's health and dental health. Subsidizing cavities and insulin resistance. This is retarded unless you are selling insulin and meds for diabetes. Then I guess it is good business.
@Metal-Brain saiddoes anyone need to explain to you how supply and demand drive the prices?

@Metal-Brain saidYour first line, that capitalism is really socialism,,,,,,brought some blank faces at coffee this morning. They said why would you even read the rest from this character. I said , and this is true, I did not. Why would I? And consider the mindset of the source,.. you.

Who would read that tome which follows? I think my answer would be that nothing is free (except water out of the sky...get a bucket..) , my conclusion without reading the stupid article is.......CHOICE!!!!
Choose soda (we dont say soda in the south) or choose water.
You need to get a life.
@Metal-Brain saidWhere does water cost more than other drinks?
Apparently you need to do that. Explain how supply and demand makes water cost more than water plus sweetener and other additives.
@Metal-Brain saidCompanies or Countries that buy more get the product at a lower wholesale price.

That's why McDonald's is so much cheaper in the USA than Canada.
The USA buys more, ergo lower wholesale price.
I think healthy food being more expensive than junk food is ridiculous, if that's what your getting at.
@fornichessate saidNo. It is more complicated than that.

Subsidies are involved.
You have not even properly thought this through. Soda pop and water both contain water. You need to explain why the additives make the water cost less.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidRead the link I posted in my OP. Nobody seems to be reading it.

@AverageJoe1 saidThe military is socialism. You just are not used to thinking about it. Public schools are socialism. NASA is socialism. Think about it.

The blank faces were from ignorance of the facts.
Now explain why adding things to water makes the water cost less. Start by reading the article from the link in my OP. Make an effort to learn.
@Metal-Brain saidBecause tap water is perfectly fine.

People who "buy water" are pretentious pricks.
So the water companies charge more.
Also, people buy soda, companies will compete for customers which drives the price down.
Even if water becomes cheaper than cheap soda... people will still buy the soda
@shavixmir tell metal brain you are still going to buy the fattening soda even if it's cheaper than water because you're a fatty.
That's what fatties do. Fat stuff.
@Metal-Brain saidI did read…the article makes the claim but doesn’t provide an example or proof
Read the link I posted in my OP. Nobody seems to be reading it.
This is how those with an agenda manipulate the gullible
@fornichessate saidBut soda is water as well, just with additives that cost more money. And bottled water is a competitive field as well. All sorts of brands.
