Then explain why water is more costly than soda pop.
Show me where water is more expensive

Apparently you need to do that. Explain how supply and demand makes water cost more than water plus sweetener and other additives.
sure little buddy.

you take normal tap water, you purify it as little as possible to satisfy the us government's scarce regulations (because regulations are evil, remember). you add a bunch of cheap chemicals so it tastes good and then you sell it for cheap. there will be demand but also a fukton of supply

you start doing the same thing with the premium water but you purify it a lot more, (or don't, americans are stupid) do not add chemicals and then call it evian or fiji, call it miracle water from some untouched paradise. Now the most important part: slap a ludicrous price on it, call it elite water and the "elite" will buy it. You can't drink regular water with the poors. You lowered the supply but there is still a demand.

You are now supposed to ignore everything i said, scoff in a superior manner, maybe call me a sheep for whatever organization you're against and then create the same thread a couple of months from now.

oo can you do diamonds next? How are diamonds so expensive?

You are basically saying water without additives is a scam. That is not a credible explanation. And if what you are saying is true why aren't you in the bottled water business?

Did you read the article from the link I posted in my OP? It claims government subsidies are responsible. Why did you omit that from your explanation?

Diamonds are not always expensive. They can be made artificially. It depends on what kind of diamond it is. But the De beers inflated the price using their monopoly power to limit supply in the old days.

Are you claiming someone has a monopoly on bottled water?

@fornichessate removed their quoted post
"Bottled water is supposed to be from a spring and filtered better"

The covid vaccines were supposed to be safe and effective too. That does not mean anything.

I can buy a 2 liter bottle of cheap soda from Walmart for 1 dollar. The quality varies with cheap soda pop but the Sams Club Cola is pretty good in my opinion. Compare that to water prices from Walmart.

You are selectively choosing venues to make a point.

OK…buy a soft drink at a sporting event…then buy water from Walmart…report back with outcome

BTW…you can buy drinking water at Walmart in 5gallon containers…which I do for camping…costs a few cents per gallon that way.

No. Use prices from Walmart only. Unless you think that is not a competitive place of business. How many different brands does Walmart carry? A lot!

Stop making up bunk arguments. I had to pay a lot for a drink in a strip bar. Give me a break. Then don't buy drinks in a strip bar.
