I've been reading about Hussein; I never realized exactly how much of a US minion he was. Our CIA sent him to assassinate a democratically elected Prime Minister! That's how he came to power! I didn't know :'(.

And then we defended him against Iran...

Realpolitik is ugly.

I'm glad it's getting peaceful in Iraq, because we need to get out of there - but we can't do that if there's too much fighting there.

Moreover, who armed the Afgan talibans when Russia invaded Afganistan? A clue: US.
Who instructed the talibans so they could use the weapons? A clue: US.

That's different. That's defending an indiginous force against the Soviets!

Iraq involved murdering the Prime Minister and then defending the thug we put in his place. MUCH different.

Exactly. Russia invaded Afghanistan and the US provided support against them. So what? You make it sound like a bad thing.

But wait! What's this "People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan"? The Communists? How legit were they? Are they not legit simply because they chose Communism?

One country invades another country in order to establich stability - that's right or that's wrong?
Another country is organizing restistance with weapons - that's right or that's wrong?
The resisting people are turning weapons to the 'helping' country - that's right or that's wrong?
The helping country is complaining - that's right or that's wrong?

Now - am I talking about Afganistan or Iraq?

Right or wrong is about in what group you belong.

I see the parallel between Iraq and Afganistan.

I don't. When did the US murder a legitimate head of state in Afghanistan?

I don't know, I didn't even know that US did such a thing...

I know that they try to murder the legitimate president of Cuba, and helped Pinochet murder the democraticly elected president of Chile, Allende, and what happened in Panama I have to restudy. But the murdered president of Afganistan, I didn't know.

But our CIA did support Hussein in a hit on the Prime Minister of Iraq, which actually failed, but the Baathists got him soon after anyway.
