Would you assassinate a political opponent with very low poll numbers? How could a political opponent win a fair election with such pathetic poll numbers, let alone a rigged one? You cannot even call him a political rival. Rivals have a chance of winning.
If Russia wanted him dead he would be dead. They don't botch assassinations. The fact he is still breathing is highly suspect.
