Venezuela has a constitutional amendment making universal healthcare a right. Healthcare is expensive. The USA is the wealthiest country on the planet and we don't have it yet. I think it is unfair to blame corruption alone. There are no governments that are corruption free.
People should be asking who will decide who will run Venezuela. Maduro said the US wanted to install a puppet government and make Venezuela a colony. Can they pull that off without it being obvious to the Venezuelan people? I doubt they will accept Guaido or Machado. They are insurrectionists backed by the US. Giving Machado the peace prize does not change that. Just like giving one to Henry Kissinger does not change his efforts to overthrow Allende and replace him with Pinochet in Chile. Allende was democratically elected and they replaced him with a brutal dictator.
They did the same thing in Iran. Why should we believe they don't have the same thing planned for Venezuela? They don't care about democracy. They care about control. They want to control the oil and make sure it is sold in US dollars and no other currency.

But American lives and Venezuelan lives will be lost if he does a land war and I think Trump probably thinks those piddling 15 thousand troops ready to hit the streets won't be enough by a factor of 20 or 30 so they will end up being slaughtered, since Venezuela has a population of near 30 million, it is not rocket science to see the result of that.
We found that out the hard way, this regime change thing in Viet Nam, millions of Vietnamese killed and 50 thousand of our troops killed and we lost running out with tails between our legs but Trump doesn't do history so will repeat it yet again if he does a ground war and all that without congressional approval like the constitution says.
