The whole gay issue is a simple one to figure out.

Progs in the West, led by President Obama, think that we have over population. For them, what needs to be done is limit population through any means, whether it be abortion, gay sex, birth control, etc.. However, Putin is of the opposite mind. Putin wants Russians to actually have more children. Putin is of the mind that children are the country's greatest resource, and to try and establish the former glory of the former USSR, Russians must be encouraged to reproduce. Therefore, he shuns gay sex, abortion, etc.

Deep down I don't think either Obama or Putin have convictions on social issues such as gay sex or abortion, rather, they use them for various political objectives.

I love the argument of over population, but then turn around and argue the need for increased immigration.

Setting up abortion centers in the US so that the poor can abort their children and quit reproducing combined with increased immigration of uneducated and unskilled labor just means that the powers that be want to replace the present lower class with a different lower class.

Obama and his ilk want to replace blacks with Hispanics.

It makes sense. They want poor immigrants to come to the US, get indoctrinated, and have abortions. It's either that or they will continue to reproduce elsewhere.
