The problem with that theory, Stang, is that someone can develop a fixed idea that I am their enemy, and I might be powerless to change their attitude towards me no matter how much I change my behaviour.

It would be truer to say, only we can decide who our enemies are.

America has not only tolerated but also supported totalitarian dictators in the past.

No wonder the world is in a mess.
