According to the book, Obama instead pushed for an open primary.

Every State would have had to change their laws to allow a second primary and then print ballots and do all the other necessary and costly things in order to have another election.

The bylaws of the Democratic Party made it clear that if a candidate who had achieved the majority of delegates dropped out, then it was up to the delegates at the convention to chose a candidate. Biden didn't drop out until July 21, 2024 and "Nearly half of the states have a deadline in August, and most require certification or identification of a candidate to fill a vacancy no later than September 6. I have no idea whether the unnamed book is accurate in its claims of what Obama wanted but the fact is there was no time under present election laws to do anything but have the convention select the nominee based on the already finished primaries and caucuses which selected 95% Biden delegates.

Why do you think we have the BBC on public broadcasting here in the USA? Our propaganda is perfectly aligned with the UK's propaganda. Neither will tell you about Operation Mongoose or Operation North woods, will they?
