They're nuts.
I'm sure the big brains on this site will find a way to blame the US for this;

Can't have girls learning, can we? What a delightful culture. Celebrate diversity.

Sounds to me like the government is attempting to deal with the problem which I presume you would agree is the sensible course of action. At least it wasn´t bullets being fired at school kids eh!

How does pulling out of Afghanistan (which I support) help Afghan schoolgirls?

Would anyone oppose a UN force (like the K-For in Kosovo) replacing the US troops?

I´d have thought the UN wouldn´t be too pleased about it as the war wasn´t initially authourised by the UN, the US never declared war and it would look like everybody else paying for the mess the US and UK made over there.

Don´t get me wrong I really, really didn´t like the Taliban but someday the US has to work out that interfering with other countries sovereignty always back fires in the end.

As far as I know we still have no proof that anybody in the old Afghan government had anything to do with 9/11.

If terrorists are working from within the country at will, then either the government of the country has not sovereign within its own borders, or the government supports the terrorists. In either case, we should do whatever it takes to attack those attacking us.

If you don't want your country invaded, do something about the terrorists before we do.

...so you want to give the people of those countries more reason to support the terrorists?
By ignoring the sovereign state you're giving the terrorists even more power!!

It is better to be feared than loved. That's a harsh reality in this world.

Another harsh reality is that there are rats who do not like the snakes we are trying to kill. It is called Realpolitik.

I'm sure some would.
Rumor has it that the Taliban wish ALL foreign troops to leave Afghanistan.

But the point is that Taliban have fostered Al-Qaeda, helped them to rise in the past, and still harbour Al-Qaeda leaders in their hideouts in Afghanistan. we can not leave Afghanistan until we KNOW the battle has been won.
The Afghan government states the same, and if we disagree with what is being done in Kabul+suroundings, we just need to remind them who is providing security.

You can turn Afghanistan into glass and the battle will have only just begin!

For each bomb that drops on another countries territory you make another enemy. This has always been the case.

You forget that the vast majority of people don´t give a damn about Israel, Palestine, Islam, Christianity, etc. They just want to live their own lives. However, when their house or their neighbours house explodes and their friends die you can be sure that is not forgotten, regardless of your motives.

Your suggestion that this is a battle that can be won with weapons is the reasoning, and lack of seeing more than two moves ahead that children suffer from.

If you actually took, as Bhor used to say, the path with a heart, you´ll find that in the long run, the number of tragedy's for both sides would be far less

the taleban did not foster anything. and rumours are that most of the leaders of al-qaeda are holed up across the border in pakistan.

what is needed is a military presence, in combination with humanitarian work. BUT, military presence only as a way of securing the areas in which the aid organisations work. only by actually improving living conditions for the average afghani can the taleban be beaten. people who have comfortable lives don't follow extremists.

edit: one surprising fact is that the american military are far better at coordinating their military and the civilian aid organisations, than are the nato forces.

Oh so you *want* people to hate your country. I see.
Isn't motivating people through fear... terrorism?
How do you think your new found enemies are going to respond to this kind of behaviour?
More terrorism!!!

Countries that are loved don't get planes crashed into their buildings. They get along just fine.
