And second of all, if given the choice of having America move to the left for 4 years just to get rid of Trump, it would definitely be worth considering.

Hybrid systems so to speak.
Germany, UK, France, Scandinavian countries and others all operate on a free market with social programs to various extents.
What I perceive to be different about America is that free market ideology seems to be joined at the hip with social conservatism when it doesn’t really need to be.
Many in these forums are having difficulty digesting the idea you can have free market capitalism without social conservatism.
Those that post in protest against any notion of liberalism are just social conservatives pretending to be free market capitalists.
Do you ever wonder why some of these posters are railing against those who have achieved wealth from the free market ideology ??
And are labelling them as elitists ? And liberals ?
Perhaps capitalism is a form of economic liberalism.
I read posts from those in this forum who are dedicated socialists.
I may not agree with them, (I’m not really a socialist myself), but I can at least respect their opinion.
At least they don’t wallow in hypocrisy like the social conservatives.
