US sports tycoon Malcolm Glazer is expected to secure the final few shares to complete a £790m takeover of Manchester United over the weekend.
The American secured 74.8% of the club, just short of the 75% he needs to take it into private ownership.

Campaign group Shareholders United has urged supporters to stop buying club merchandise and protests are expected at Sunday's match with Southampton.

-What do you think of Malcolm Glazer's latest bid?
-What effect will it have on the club?
-Will ticket prices go up?
-What are your thoughts on this whole thing ?

Malcolm Glazer isn't from Manchester and he doesn't know anything about football. Yep, sounds like a typical Man Utd fan, all right.

I think the most interesting part of this story is to see whether the fans call for football and brand to be separated can be achieved.

I wouldn't like to tell my son he can't have a Man Utd Buccaneers shirt because supporting the brand is not what we are here for.

Prices probably will go up. Man Utd may become more nimble, eg they won't have inform the stockmarket of major developments ( player signings, changes in management.)

It is a good job Glazer has borrowed his money to buy the club because..

"There is only one way to make a small fortune out of football - and thats to start out with a large one."

There's an interview with Alan Sugar in the MoS this morning. He's quoted as saying that he's intrigued by Glazer's intentions, because he cannot see the economic logic in the deal from the point of view of either club or Glazer (the Magnier brothers' is only too obvious): it isn't in the club's interest because transfer fees can only fall cover the astrononomical debts they now have (which make Leeds' look like candyfloss), and Glazer won't be able to negotiate increased revenue from TV sales without the consent of the rest of the Premiership boards - which he will not get.
