Over the years Donald Trump has said some very abrasive things about women. His stance on women's healthcare, and reproductive rights have been especially harsh, yet he didn't suffer much loss of female support at election time. In 2024 Harris had the advantage among women, winning 53% to Trump’s 46% - an 8% advantage. Noteworthy yes, but far smaller than what was predicted; smaller even than in 2020, when Biden won 55% of women, while 43% went for Trump. It seems the "female outrage" was confined to a smaller group than we were led to believe.

Yes, he appointed the SCOTUS Justices who decided Dobbs, but beyond that, I don't think he has any plans to do anything beyond leaving the issue to the states.
And what "women's healthcare" issues are you referring to?
@mchill saidThere was no outrage among white women over Roe. That will go down in history as the most puzzling thing about this election. 😆

@kmax87 saidWomen usually prefer men leaders. It is a very simple preference hardwired in the genetic makeup of women. The Democratic party made the mistake of assuming a woman will automatically attract the votes of women. It does not work like that. In some cases, if the woman has demonstrated the leadership qualities, then it probaby can. The fact that a woman lost to a man with such low moral values and such poor diplomatic skills, should tell you something about how women think.
Apparently women don't like women.
@mchill saidI don't get the massive turnaround either. I suspect there's some massive voter suppression that happened that we haven't uncovered yet. The one thing I don't get about my own party is this wholesale blaming themselves when it comes to the actual vote being so way off not only the polling but everyone dreading Trump so badly and then the vote showing SO differently.

I was shocked when Hillary lost. But then I blew it off to her just having so much baggage among everyone, not just Republicans. And now, here's a woman who finally got the left SO energized, then Trump just laid into her hammer and tongs and the electorate just caved and gave him the benefit of the doubt when we all KNEW he's been the worst president ever. Either everyone in the country just caved totally to him, or there has been some wholesale shenanigans going on with the vote. We know many states changed their election department to Trump loyalists, so it's not that hard to imagine internal changes enough to disallow a large number of democrat votes, or at least enough to win states that shouldn't have won. This is why I'm not buying this talk of extreme 'mandates'. I can't even believe he won the popular vote, even just by 51% or whatever. This seems almost impossible, given the atmosphere before the election. Unless every single person lied about how they were going to vote, something is clearly amiss. Yet democrats are now falling all over themselves about how we were SO wrong, or how we missed what the people wanted so badly. I just don't think we did. I still do not believe that a majority of people nationwide were SO hornswoggled into becoming so devoted to Trump that something like this could happen. If it is true, then we, as a nation, HAVE been "fooled again", and I just cannot buy into that. Like Anne Frank, despite everything that has happened, I still have a fundamental faith in the goodness of people. We just can't have been conned into being THIS much in thrall to a narcissist megalomaniac. As a people, we just cannot be this dumb. Something is afoot.

"the atmosphere before the election" - *your* atmosphere?? I'm sure your atmosphere is filled with liberal media.
Suzie, your state was won by Trump. could you not sense this coming??
@Earl-of-Trumps saidI knew Arizona would be a 'wish-for-the-best' scenario. It was apparent it would be close. Our prop 139, the abortion issue, passed, so I know women came out.

Donald Trump's plan of leaving women's healthcare, and reproductive rights up to each state gives red states the green light to pass laws banning abortion outright, as well as prosecuting physicians who perform abortions even when the life of the mother would be lost otherwise. This seems rather harsh; don't you agree? The suffering and medical complications underage girls go through, when their own underdeveloped bodies are forced to carry a baby to term don't always fit neatly into a legal brief, or an eloquently composed piece of legislation. This in addition to Trump nominating supreme court justices, he knew full well would trash Roe v Wade.
SH - You seem like a pretty smart guy. I don't really need to spell this out to you, do I?
What this shows is the effect of propaganda on the population.
You couple the constant messaging about poverty, blaming immigration, etc. with Maslow’s pyramid, and what do you think you get?
If people think they are poor, that things cannot get better under a current regime, and a new regime promises them houses and jobs and makes clear there’s a small group to blame, they are going to settle for basic security before they prioritise developement.
How do you think the oppression of any group is constructed?
When the message is simplified, it’s easier to understand.
What’s more important to you, woman: feeding your kids or your right to an abortion?
Sorry to get all serious on you. But it’s the first step in implementing change: create a sense of urgency.
And the republicans have been hammering out this message for decades, escalating with trump.
Why do you think your “blue collar” workers voted republican?
Obviously, from an outside position, it’s very clear that trump’s policies are not going to benefit them.
Yet they seriously believe that what he’s offering is better than what they’ve got.
Because what they have is very bad, only getting worse and it’s down to immigrants, democrats and basically anything except the economic system.
This is what you are witnessing.
Take a step back for a second and ask yourself if the cost of apples really has anything to do with a school book referring to two fathers?
Yet, these are the connections which have been planted in your head.
Not even directly linking them, but as part of a wider picture of an all encompassing drama you are suffering. And somehow tackling dei and immigration is going to lower the cost of apples. Or is it tariffs that will lower the cost of apples? Or peace in Ukraine? Or bibles in school classss? Patriotism? Tax breaks for the rich?
Understand how these things are not connected and you’ll start to comprehend that there’s a muddle in your head. And that same muddle is planted in women’s heads too.
And that is why it seems they don’t care about the rights to their own bodies.
@Suzianne saidDemocrats made a mess of the election, it's as simps that. The Biden thing was a joke, having to replace him during the campaign, they looked incompetent. Only themselves to blame.
