@chaney3 saidSome people think that 2 beers a day, or 1 glass of wine each day is too much.
The Bible warns against being a drunk, as does our society.
What is a drunkard to you?
Lost everything?
Sleeps in an alley?
Drinks too much?
Drinks heavily, yet keeps his job?
Please discuss.
Nobody seems to define where one crosses the line.

@chaney3 saidMy impression is somebody who is frequently drunk, not just tipsy. Perhaps somebody who drinks beyond his/her control.

@handyandy saidAgree.
Yes, and this is also a person whose frequent consumption of alcohol is essential.
I suppose a drunkard drinks so that others notice - an alcoholic can use alcohol and may not ever get drunk. Would you agree?
@handyandy saidThat's true. So is there a difference in behavior, in your opinion, between a drunkard and an alcoholic?
I don't believe a drunkard necessarily wants others to notice. It's a personal weakness.
@torunn saidNot really. Being an alcoholic sounds more respectable than being a drunkard.

You could say that a drunkard is drunk routinely and an alcoholic is sober now and then.
@handyandy saidI think that is well put.

Alcoholics can be sober sometimes but when drinking they could lose everything because they won't stop.
A drunkard maintains his station in life with his job and a place to live but is always drinking.
Both are alcoholics but a drunkard doesn't go to crazy extremes like a full fledged alcoholic.
Just an opinion.
