As a public service so that everyone can get it off their chests, what exactly is it about the Democratic party that really ticks off conservative Americans? I mean the GOP candidates are no less wealthy or from an elitist background, yet they are never criticized for it[ edit: at least not by the conservatives who make a big point about the wealthy Dems].

In terms of Democrats and bureaucracy The Republicans are no less inefficient or show no greater transparency when it comes to the awarding of multi billion dollar contracts to pals. So what is it then that really sticks under every bodies craw?

Funny, I thought it was the other way around. I heard Obama say just the other day how the Bush tax cuts were going to the wealthiest Americans(he thinks anyone making more than 250K is wealthy)

Personally, I think liberals (Democratic or any oher group) think anyone whohas a job and can be taxed is wealthy

But we have to say that Obama isn't the first liberal to say that, we have heard it from every liberal since JFK.

We could go into the social liberalism of the Democratic Party as well but thats all well known.

Conservatives respect wealth. Democrats seem to attack wealth. Thus when they are wealthy, they seem to be hypocrites.

Would you describe someone who is making more than 250K as just making ends meet? I mean if earning more than 250K is just ordinary, how much do you have to earn in the US to be wealthy?

It's Chump Change in America, especially if you're self employed, even with just a few employees. I know landscapers that make than that amount. They work their as off for it also. No reason why everyone can't have a small business, even as a side job. However, those that do not have the drive to work hard end up playing chess on their employers time bitching and moaning that they're underpaid.

The average wage in the USA is somewhere below 35,000 USD PA.....

Thus anyone earning 250k+ is by definition wealthy, they earn nearly 10 times the average wage..... Just because the people you know earn more doesn't mean jack. Wealth is relative to the rest of the populace......

And FYI I work extremely hard for my living and still only make around 350 dollars a day all up works out at around 100K PA (thats before 42% tax too). The reason I'm on the boards so much recently is because the drill rig has clapped out and there's literally nothing to do......

Those making $35K are employees, not self employed. $250k is doing ok if your self employed (It's not that wealthy) Your making $350/day is diddly squat
considering the level of education you have. That's because you're not self employed (i'm assuming) I was close to broke for 8yrs before i got established. I didn't say it was easy, but the sky is not the limit if you're an employee( if you're happy, that's fine). Many people don't want the crap that goes with self employment. I was forced into it. I know a guy who works on a ship looking for oil, 6 months straight. When he gets home he flips houses to make alot more money. You have enough smarts that you could do anything.

Ineffiency has nothing to do with it. It's COMPASSION. To answer the thread "What is it about Democrats" the answer is simple: Democrats have an unlimited capacity for love.

Exactly. Just a point of reference: the median household income in the US is still under 50k.
