Saw Bernie debate Lindsey Graham. He opens up with how there are a lot of rich people, and that something needs to be done about it. I get the socialism desires, but please answer me this.
If 1000 people live on an island, and 2 of them, unknown to each other, have a LOT more money than everyone else..................what business is that of the other 998 people? They are all living their lives. All independent. The 2 rich guys do not affect the lives of the people. The people participate in the economy, sell and buy, some of the goods or services maybe being bought from the rich. And they don’t have to buy from the rich guys. There is competition, no problem.
It would be nice to have a good comment or two , but I fear names, and words like government, will surface, which have nothing to do with the question.
@averagejoe1 saidThe two guys DO affect the lives of the others because they own all the fruit trees and all the huts that people live in and if the other 998 don’t pay the 2 every month the police will lock them in prison for vagrancy.

these two guys use to deliver their products?
@athousandyoung saidOk. The two guys arrived by row boat and bought a shack on the far end. They arrived wealthy, they are like Scrooge MCduck, they sit on their money and pay taxes. Don’t bother nobody. They do spend money. Mind their own business.

But Tribe Elder Bernie wants their money. How does he feel he has a right to it? Is stealing it his only option?
@averagejoe1 saidScrooge McDuck lives in a mansion and owns a castle in Scotland, ‘most of Duckburg’ as well as huge businesses including mining. He used mercenary “cutthroats” to destroy an African village and steal the land so he could grow cash crops on it (rubber). He owns a zoo illegally stocked with critically endangered animals…

Better example for your purposes is Thurston Howell from Gilligan’s Island. With no government or law enforcement, Mr Howell’s wealth is meaningless.
@averagejoe1 saidTaxes? Who do they pay taxes to?
The taxes they pay cover roads, et al. And they may or may not have products. But, who cares about their money? I just don’t get it.

You’re the one who brought up taxes…
@averagejoe1 saidMerely being rich isn't the problem, it's how that wealth is acquired, which is often through unethical business practices and exploitation of workers.

@vivify saidAs a worker I exploit my employers need for employees. The relationship is mutual.

Unethical is sitting at home doing nothing while expecting goobermint thugs steal money from the productive.
@vivify saidIf that is your opinion about companies like Apple and Microsoft, I ask you, would you rather those companies never be created?

@averagejoe1 saidThat is pathetic.

@earl-of-trumps saidNo, I'd prefer heavy regulation of such companies.

@vivify saidwooo that's heavy.
No, I'd prefer heavy regulation of such companies.
hang on, define heavy, and how does that differ from the regulation they operate under now?
Which regulations would you make heavier, which regulations would you like to make lighter, or are you just saying the word 'heavy' as bluster that you know anything about what you're talking about.
