@AThousandYoung
An Irish nationalist in 1916 is more racist than anyone you have ever met in modern times.
@ron-desantis saidNo consequences or restrictions?
No.
I've had an interesting life.
My brother with the wife and job and 3 kids says he envies me because I got to do whatever with no consequences or restrictions.
I lived.
Now I'm just relaxing but I think I have one more chapter left in me 🤔
That's all that prison life is.....As for lived,
sounds to me that you've really just existed.
Keep telling yourself how interesting your life is....
I fooled myself for a long time too.

Composed primarily of Catholic Irish immigrants, the battalion also included Germans, Canadians, English, French, Italians, Poles, Scots, Spaniards, Swiss, and Mexicans, many of whom were also members of the Catholic Church.[2] Disenfranchised Americans were in the ranks, including escaped slaves from the Southern United States.

It is believed primary motivations were shared religion with the Mexicans and sympathy for the Mexican cause based on similarities between the situations in Mexico and Ireland. This hypothesis is based on evidence of the number of Irish Catholics in the battalion, the letters of John Riley, and the field entries of senior officers.[14][15] Irish immigrants had been faced with animosity both as a result of their Catholic faith and ethnicity. Catholic immigrants were regularly met with discrimination from their Protestant peers, sentiments which sometimes boiled over into events such as the Philadelphia nativist riots against Irish Catholic immigrants. Catholic churches had been similarly defaced by the American military in Mexico during the war. Additionally, both the Mexicans and the Irish were subjected to racism and xenophobia based on racist pseudo-science and treated as inferior to American nativists.
@ron-desantis said"Us"? Aren't you "new"?

Apparently you forgot about the already PROVEN IN COURT Trump fraud cases, TWO cases in fact, 25 MILLION dollars in fines because of those frauds, Trump "University'' and Trump 'Charity" both of which were grifts PROVEN IN COURT.
But of course that matters not in the slightest because Trump is your GOD and Trumpism is your religion.
@sonhouse saidYeah, I forgot.tell us about it.

Right, like you never heard about it. BULLSHYTE you never heard about it, it made news in fukking Botswana for god's sake. You knew it full well but are just going for sarcasm since you are incapable of actual dialog or answering serious questions.
But hey, it is just me, an 80 yo bat crazy, so you feel safe just diverting, ignoring or going straight to sarcasm.
I am so STUPID but I can beat the LOT of you zombies at a SIMUL in chess.
Or maybe you want to try your luck ALL of you playing a simul with #1Maurader.
And that is not even to mention my music tracks, hundreds of them but what do I know, just a former NASA dude who had a small part in Apollo or years spent on Andros Island at AUTEC or years spent in Thailand on microwave communications or years spent in cleanrooms from Bell labs to Intel in Jerusalem.
Yep, a worthless POS bat crazy 80 yo.
@ron-desantis saidA "nationalist" in Ireland circa 1916 was someone who supported an Irish nation i.e. independence from the British Empire.
@AThousandYoung

A "republican" in Ireland 1916 was someone who wanted that nation to be a Republic.
By contrast, "nationalists" in the USA 2022 are almost invariably racists primarily upset that the nation isn't as "white" as it used to be.
I don't know of anything in Pearse's writings or speeches that could be reasonably considered "racist".
@sonhouse saidBut I don't CARE but Trump, is that too hard to grasp? I never read a word about him, or about a lot of people. I am busy. No obsession here.

Ask me some other questions. So, if I cannot answer a Trump question because I know nothing current about him, I guess I will never learn the definition of Democracy. It follows that if I dont know what democracy is in your mind, I will never understand any post from you about democracy.
@no1marauder
So his racial purist ideals was made up?
I could go hunting for that article again but I really don't want to.
@athousandyoung saidSo racist or stupid enough to think that white Irish Americans who got the usual bottom rung on arrival in the US had overcome the same level of racism that black Americans had to, and still are, dealing with.
In more recent times, let us remember that Whitey Bulger, the Irish Mob boss of Boston a few decades ago, targetted white Italians and had no hatred of Blacks.

If an Irishman is walking down fifth avenue how you gonna know he’s an Irishman. Real racism doesn’t kick in until they base it on your skin colour.
