What's Israel and the US (and I believe various EU nations as well) going to do when a "terrorist" organisation is democratically elected?

That's gonna be hella-interesting, don't you think?

Democracy in action.
I think it's funny.

It's been done before by the ANC. But maybe the rest of the world wasn't interested.

From the above link:

"Israel, the US and the EU consider Hamas a terrorist group and have said they do not want to deal with it."

and:

"Hamas says it will ask Fatah to join a coalition, but Fatah officials say they will not sit in government with Hamas."

and:

"UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said the Palestinian elections were "an important step toward the achievement of a Palestinian state," UN spokeswoman Marie Okabe said.

But the UN chief warned that "any group that wishes to participate in the democratic process should ultimately disarm because to carry weapons and participate in a democratic process and sit in parliament - there is a fundamental contradiction". "

and:

"The European Union - the biggest provider of aid to the Palestinian Authority - said it would work with any Palestinian government which renounced violence."

The answer to this was given months ago. Israel and the US will have no dealings with the Palestinian Authority if Hamas wins. Hamas's stated goal is the destruction of Israel. Nuff said.

And Israel's stated intention is the destruction of Palestine.

Not talking to Hamas is hardly likely to soften their stance.

What government of ANY country has EVER "renounced violence"? A new set of rules just for the Palestinians.

I am limited to contextual parameters, like anyone else, L'il Jack Horner.
