The last fig leaf is gone. The GOP, defeated and fragmented is now going to have to weave it's broken parts together and limp along, after spending 5 years backing a tin - pot dictator who would rather incite goon squads to riot and kill their own citizens, rather than accept the outcome of an election. When Al Gore and Hillary Clinton lost their elections, they were angry...but never resorted to violence, choosing instead to make their grievances known in the courts. Republicans can try to spin this horrific event, but it won't work.

So - Where does the GOP go from here? Do they return to their Conservative roots which have been the traditional place for the "angry white man" who's political power is slowly eroding due to changing demographics, or do they continue to back an obese ex President, who faces a mountain of legal and financial problems once he leaves office? Either way; the future of the GOP is not a pretty one. 😳

It will but that will be splitting the conservative vote. It looks like the Dems have won the battle to keep their left wing in check longer than the Republicans could keep their right wing in check.
End result, you’ve seen your last Republican congress or MAGA POTUS for quite some time.

You call the past year of the left wing rioters burning down buildings attacking cops and looting stores being kept in check?

Until you get your cops in check you cannot expect anything less. You claiming that people protesting against police brutality is political does not make it so. It’s a single issue protest.

I doub't there will be any such party. Do you not see all the news articles that list the names of republican activist? Once Biden is sworn in I suspect they are going to try and have them all arrested. Why else are they compiling all these lists?

No, that would be what would happen if your approved form of government happened, authoritarian.

In a real government with empathy those lists would be used to try to get them booted out of office come next election cycle.

To make sure people know exactly who they are voting for and what their attitude to democracy is. The idea that the political classes are going to start holding each other legally responsible is a long held dream of mine, but have no fear it will be the street level activist who gets the jail time.

Do you think I’M a member of the political classes? Do you know who the POLITICAL CLASSES are?
    Here’s a clue

    Political class
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    Jump to navigationJump to search
Political class, or political elite is a concept in comparative political science originally developed by Italian political theorist Gaetano Mosca (1858–1941). It refers to the relatively small group of activists that is highly aware and active in politics, and from whom the national leadership is largely drawn. As Max Weber noted, they not only live "for politics"—like the old notables used to—but make their careers "off politics" as policy specialists and experts on specific fields of public administration.[1] Mosca approached the study of the political class by examining the mechanisms of reproduction and renewal of the ruling class; the characteristics of politicians; and the different forms of organisation developed in their wielding of power.”

What I’m saying is regardless of what side of the aisle they are on they share a class identity and they would be very unlikely to start jailing each other. Trump might but then he’s more narcissistic psychopath than politician.
