That would be Bashar al Assad, son of the former "president" Hafez al Assad.
Interesting thing is that baby assad was not who half az originally wanted to follow him. I forget his name, but the first son he chose died in a car accident in 94. Baby asshat was plan B. Which explains a few things.
Originally posted by ZahlanziInteresting that you say that. I always thougt Jeb was the more electable of the two, but W ran first and that has killed any chance of Jeb even considering a run. Had Jeb run first, they might have been able to get 3 bushs in the Whitehouse. Not gonna happen now, no way!
hopefully he will not find another target before his term ends, and jeb bush will not become president
And as for finding another target, I suspect it has already been found. If W really intends for Iraq to be the last stop for the war on terror bus, it should have never left the station. Everybody knows that Iraq was never a terrorist supporting country so even if it did become some kind of western style democracy, it wouldn't mean anything in terms of reducing terrorism. If this was Ws grand plan, then he is dumber than even his detractors think he is.
iraq was a fueling stop. iran might be next.
and don't underestimate the american people and the american arithmetics. who knows who will count the votes in 2008?
i have once read that on average, 5% of the americans show up to vote. (i might be wrong about this number, i hope i am wrong about this number). if 5% of the americans vote, who knows who will they vote with?
Originally posted by ZahlanziI have never read that 5% number, but its nowhere near correct.

I don't have the exact figures, but about 90 million people voted in the last Presidentail election. Americas total population is about 300 million.
And yes, I suspect Iraq is a stepping stone to Iran. Stopping at Iraq would be complete waste of the 10 million dollars an hour we spend there.
No one knows for sure if it would do any good, but going to Iran instead of Iraq would have at least made more sense in the context of the war on terror. Iraq boggles my mind.
Many Americans think of Iraq as our "base" .. much like the way bin Laden saw Afganistan.
We need a staging area for our troops and equipment (WMDs) if we're going to clean out that hornets nest known as Iran.
Somebody's gonna have to do it sooner or later and we all know there isn't a functioning gonad left in Europe (outside of GB), so once again, it's up to Uncle Sam to save your sorry asses.
No problem, the USA and GB will do the heavy lifting for you .. now get back to your knitting girls.
