The first sentence is dead wrong. Read the 5th Amendment for example.

And Rubio is wrong, too. International students are protected by the First Amendment.https://www.nafsa.org/professional-resources/browse-by-interest/immigration-and-visa-implications-first-amendment

Cases challenging these unconstitutional policies are already working through the courts.https://ww ...[text shortened]... om/story/news/2025/03/26/rutgers-faculty-union-first-amendment-lawsuit-trump-protesters/82660105007/
once the student visa is revoked you have no rights. best to not do anything to get your visa revoked.

Again wrong.

Only in Trumpworld. The courts will have the last word on this, whether he likes it or not (probably not).

I mean, we had a loooong national debate about this 25 years ago when the Bush administration was attempting to detain foreign agitators presumed to be terrorists without trial or legal protections. Then, the only legal pathways was imprisonment outside the USA. Voila, we get Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

At that time, it was extremely controversial whether this was legal or not, and there was a lot of work done to actually provide the terrorists with lawyers and judges and juries to evaluate the evidence of their criminality. In other words, the general consensus was that they had rights.

The juxtaposition of that debate relative to this one is striking. We have come a long way towards tyranny, oppressive power.

"best not do anything" that pisses off the government is the attitude under which people living in fascist governments operate.

The thing dictators never learn is that they always end up fleeing the country, eventually, just like the Shah of Iran and Assad of Syria. That's how Trump's term will end too, if the GOP doesn't find their balls and remove him constitutionally first.

Yeah, I also do not understand the appeal.

If Trump lasts the 20-40 years those dictators did we will have already lost long before he flees anywhere.

They don't always manage to flee. Mussolini was shot and his body hung by its feet for the sport of crows and spitting passers-by. Hitler poisoned himself and his body burned to ashes amidst the rubble of Berlin.

Looking forward to that part of history repeating itself, at least.

Incorrect. Nothing in the BoR says that only U.S. citizens are protected. "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects against unreasonable searches and seziures..."
Exactly.

Given his lifestyle choices, it is not likely he will last anywhere near that long.

Dictators never reckon with their own downfall. A narcissist simply cannot imagine his own defeat. It takes a narcissistic personality type to claw his way into that sort of position in the first place.

Mussolini lasted 26 years. Please don’t curse us with 2+ decades of Trump.
