@Arkturos saidI quit school in the 11th grade. My dad got sick and died. ( I was 17)
As a basis for discussion, let's hear about your source of income for starters.
I went wild for a couple years then met my future wife.
I started working regularly at a low paying job (construction).
I slowly worked my way up. I am now retired with SS as one income, a state sponsored pension for a second income (I paid into both)…When I retired at 62 I started my own business. It is very profitable. I now own my home and property (8 acres) paid for.
I have nice vehicles, have never and never will own a new vehicle.
I am very comfortable and set for life.
I earned it. I started with NOTHING.
So if a person doesn’t have a disability I don’t feel for them very much.
You only have one life, make the most out of it. Our govt is cheating a lot of people out of their lives with free handouts.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidHey, thank you for sharing that. These days I feel kind of wary about sharing any of my details, but I very much appreciate what you wrote.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidI think the rest of us are not only concerned about SNAP beneficiaries, but also about the Trump "administration" using highly skilled but currently unpaid Federal workers as human hostages and leverage (to what end?) -- not to mention all the highly skilled Federal workers who have already been fired by creepy Musk and his doofusy tech juniors.
...only concerned with snap beneficiaries? a lot of people are out of work, they cant put food on the table either.
its like when politicians claim social security is running out of money, but you never hear of welfare running out.
the deadbeats have priority...that needs to change
I almost feel like we are living in an American version of Stalinist times, so maybe I'll stop here.
If Trump had any kind of adult intelligence or savvy (not to mention some knowledge of history), maybe he would have come up with something like this (along the lines of Bush Senior's "Points of Light" :
"If you are concerned about your neighbors struggling (not that they would be in your neighborhood in the first place), maybe show them how to set up a GoFundMe page."
@Arkturos saidYou people are always making claims but never showing what you are referring to.

Federal workers hostages?
😂
Give an example
@Mott-The-Hoople saidFirst: I gather that you seem to be retired and have two sources of passive income.

"You people" ? It's really just me.
RE: "hostages" : in case you lack the capacity to think ahead or in a branchy way: Federal workers (whether fired or working without pay) and their families still need to eat and pay bills. There will be a domino (GB: knock-on) effect for everyone else.
If that was a point you wished to elicit from someone else out of cowardice, why didn't you just dare to say so yourself?
@Arkturos saidNo, I have 3 sources of income, I can tell you how to do it.

Yes you people. You are all the same, whining because you want something given to you.
Your problem on this board is you read your liberal writers and then come on here restating what you read, but fall short when asked for proof.
Wash rinse repeat

Edit: never mind the recent spate of bear attacks that have been in the news, this is more important on a putatively human level:
In what substrate do you imagine your thoughts and smugness occur?

@Arkturos saidWhen you people get called out all you know to do is some childish BS.

I really feel sorry for you.
Did your dad wear dresses?
@Mott-The-Hoople saidI doubt it, and I also doubt that you are a serious person.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidI'm beginning to get the impression that you are so socially isolated that you don't even care about yourself, let alone other people.
Does it matter?
@Mott-The-Hoople saidI saw it here, on a libertarian blog... The PDF to the cbo report is in it.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidI grew up in a community that talked a lot about the importance of preparation for events in which a hostile government came for us. They voted for limited government principles, and trusted government very little.

These were very conservative people.
MAGA changed all that. I have not spoken with these people in a while, but government now is coming for us. National guard troops have been mobilized by the thousands to cities where the governor and mayors don't want them there. They are heavily armed and hostile towards US citizens. MAGA has exploded the federal debt and spending levels of federal government, taking money away from poor people (like SNAP) and giving it shadowy military groups. More troops in the streets.
The government is coming, and the people who stockpiled all the guns for this specific scenario are encouraging them to come? Are encouraging them to increase the size and scope of government authority?
How ridiculously backwards.
