...only concerned with snap beneficiaries? a lot of people are out of work, they cant put food on the table either.
its like when politicians claim social security is running out of money, but you never hear of welfare running out.
the deadbeats have priority...that needs to change
Any Western country failing to feed people who can’t afford food, is a Western country heading towards 3rd world stardom. Not to mention polarisation, unrest and ultimately revolution.
How many billionairs does the US have?
How much money goes to the army (minus the the amount spent by the 2nd largest spender on the military)?
How come lobby groups have more say than voters in your elections?
There are plenty of resources to fund hospitals, schools, housing and food.
There are plenty of people that could work 2 or 3 hours a day, in some sort of capacity.
Damn, even your government shut-down. The senators and congressmen receive their full wages, don’t they?
So, the people deciding to keep government shut (the lot of them) don’t suffer the hardships their choices create. That’s not a healthy incentive, is it?
How can you only be concerned about this SNAP business? Shouldn’t you be asking: how can a working family end up homeless, because one of the parents has cancer?
Don’t you think that’s a symptom of a broken system?
And you sit there dissing on democrats, socialists, immigrants… whatever… and fail to see the larger picture.
You have to repair your system, otherwise nothing good is ever going to happen?
You can have trump lumbering on about fossil fuels, but you need educatad people to start creating hydrogen cars, so you don’t have to rely on Middle-Eastern oil and Chinese (resources) batteries.
You need people who can plan, devolop and build an hydrogen network, like 150 years ago they built the railroads.
You need people to build green power plants to create the hydrogen.
Etc.
Wake up and sort your system out.
And, oh, the same goes for many Western nations. Each to their own problems, but basically it all comes down to the same.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidAll I can say is I'm glad I live in Australia. Social Security for us and unemployment benefits are citizen rights that allow us all a level of dignity. The egalitarian spirit of the nation says sometimes people fall down. Sometimes people dont adjust to changes in their circumstances. Sometimes people just need help. And with that give them a health care card so all their doctors appointments and medical bills are free. Heavily subsidise their medications so any doctors prescription can be filled for less than $10. And do we do this, because human dignity matters.
So if a person doesn’t have a disability I don’t feel for them very much.
You only have one life, make the most out of it. Our govt is cheating a lot of people out of their lives with free handouts.
And this is not theory. I was unemployed for a long period and the safety net carried me. But then I found someone who inspired me to make a change. Now I pay more in tax every year, than any benefit I received. My society did not kick me to the kerb. Sure there are voices that are very American over here that preach pulling yourself up by your bootstraps etc, but the population in general rejects that view, because most people realise that we are all only a divorce or job loss away from disaster, and why would you let people go under just because of circumstances that to some extent are beyond their control?
