NYC welcomed thousands of illegals into the city, and are now begging our national treasury to pay for them? That is liberal thinking, for you fellers taking notes.
Is this not unfaaaaair to the other 49 states...I am sure they would like money, too. Other states have little mexican kids who cannot speak english coming into our grade schools, and we will have hell from this in the future, while the Chinee are really educating their kids. We have a learning crisis as well as covid and climate....and our money needs to go there, not to the loser NYC. They made their own bed.

You're right. It's great to have compassion but cities need to know what they're capable of handling.

But, a good discussion.....These people came to nyc, and we learn that gov Abbott, who admittedly was saddled with them by Biden (by his Border opening), SENT them there. Is the fed gov involved in this fracas? I think not. So,, what? Does NYC have a cause of action against Abbott/Texas for sending them there?

They didn’t welcome them into the US but given they are here why act like an ignorant pig.
If it’s not a federal responsibility why are you guys constantly berating the federal government for it.
As a economic theory genius you should know “you cannot have your cake and eat it” Joe

Your post is kindergarten. When you say 'It's' not a federal responsibilty, Kev....just what is 'it'?. Kevin, the border is a federal responsiblity. Can't have a country without a border, Kev. Biden (Federal) has opened it, 4000 illegals a day. Oh, and 'welcomes' them. Puts them up at hotels. Shall I continue???

I don't think I have to be a genius to point this out. Why are you so emotional? Since I just cleared up your misguided post, lets change the subject and you tell us why you are so emotional. All of you are.
Oh, as an observation....those illegals are 'eating our cake'. Ask the Mayor of NYC. Do you know he actually said that his NYC problem is not a NYC problem, that it is a national problem. Is it, Kev? Here is the link.

This will help you liberals understand the picture. To take this issue to logical conclusion, if the Fed Gov gives money to NYC to clear up their problem, the Fed Govt should likewise give money to my uncle Charlie.......He lives on the border and the Mexican invaders have ruined his garden with their influx. He grew this huge garden to sell produce, his business is ruined.
I'll ask Kev......if Govt bails out NYC, should they bail out Charlie?

Hey halfwit I didn’t say it’s not a federal responsibility your whole thread is based on the premise that it’s not a federal responsibility.
Of course the fed should support areas carrying the biggest burden in terms of immigration especially if the federal government will not give migrants work permits

OK, I apologize for making fun of you. Let us look logically, a good discussion, but what do you think about my analogy of Uncle Charlie. Surely you don't think that there is a difference?
Then we can thresh out how Govt can pick and choose cities which are over-budget and cover their losses, and literally choose any-one city over another.

I am disappointed that no one wants to justify the fed govt giving monetary support to the problems of a certain city, NYC in this case, but not to any other city.

Well I must have missed the anecdote about your uncle Charlie but no, federal governments should choose on the basis of need and not on the basis of political affiliation whilst having oversight to ensure those ring fenced funds go on the issues they are allocated for.

Check these out, this is my state, Massachusetts.

Howie Carr on Republican Primary: ‘I Don’t Think There’s Any Way Trump Could Be Stopped’
“These illegal aliens are being brought in in states far, far from the border, not just New York State, although that’s where, you know, there’s still a lot of attention, but like in Massachusetts, for instance, just this week, the state took over a hotel in Yarmouth on Cape Cod, sort of a somewhat working class — upper class as well — but mostly working-class area,” Carr said. “They evicted all the United States citizen tenants, basically. They raised the rent from $300 a week to $700 a week. None of the tenants could afford it. They’re all out on the street, including an 89-year-old woman, and now they brought in illegal aliens for $700 bucks a week. They’ve taken over the entire hotel. The Americans have been evicted.”

Carr said the same situation unfolded in another town on Cape Cod called Dennis, where “some veterans were thrown out of their hotels, U.S. citizens, veterans, thrown out for illegal aliens.” Blue-collar towns such as Taunton, some 50 miles south of Boston, and Woburn, just north of Boston, are feeling the strain of illegal immigration as well, according to Carr, while affluent liberal towns, including where Gov. Maura Healey (D) lives, are not.

“Taunton, Massachusetts, a blue-collar area with a Republican mayor and a Republican City Council, there’s one hotel, 169 rooms, taken over totally by the state, signed a contract through 2029,” Carr added. “Not only do they bring in the illegal aliens to fill up every room, they provide them with three meals a day, and this is crazy. Woburn, another working-class community… I talked to a woman the other day… she said, ‘We’re surrounded by these rich communities — Lexington, Arlington, where the governor lives, Winchester — why don’t we have a mini METCO program?’ but… all these illegal aliens, Haitians mainly, are going to be thrown into the Woburn school system, a working-class city.”

And just today, Governor Healy declares a state of emergency.

Watch. The liberals are going to win in the end. It is strange to envision the future, We may get the presidency, but they are well past 'just getting started', and the presidency is just a bump in the road.

'Choose' on the basis of need. So let me get this straight....NYC may have a 'need' to be reimubursed for migrant influx, but Texas is NOT reimbursed for the hell at the border?

I will put it this way. How does the NYC mayor think that NYC is justified for govt support, when other states have handled themselves for 100s of years? Chicago could use help too. Should we print more money? Should we build the wall with our money? I would vote build the wall, actually a lesser cost than truing-up NYC.
Libs do not answer questions. This is a reasonable one.
