Seriously?
“Something” in this could be a vaccine, it could be a cure, it could be an anti-virus, it could be that you can manipulate the virus to mutate in a certain direction.
You’re looking for elephants on a Dutch highway.
You have an agenda and with anything that doesn’t fit, you think if you Socrates the hell out of it, your agenda will be proven.
It won’t. ...[text shortened]... questions to universities, labs, health services. And they will all reply to you and explain things.

LOL. No, you are. You are projecting your insecurities onto me. It bothers you that you don't understand how it works and nobody has explained it to you. Even worse, you are being forced to consider the possibility that there is no explanation that makes sense.
All I want to know is how making a virus more deadly can save lives. Viruses can evolve to become more deadly but that is fairly rare. The virus needs a new, healthy host for its descendants to survive. If it kills its host before the host infects others, that mutation will disappear. Viruses typically evolve to become less deadly unless they are super contagious.
Doing GOF research is for the most part betting against evolution. Viruses that become more deadly usually jump from one species to another. Doing GOF research on viruses that already infect humans is mostly a waste of time. Those typically get less deadly just as covid has evolved to be less deadly.
When you find out that is all true try not to be so scared because you realize GOF is a cover for bio weapons research.

@booger saidThat would work if everybody is genetically modifying them in the same way so as to be relatively predictable, but what are the odds of that happening?
Yes I agree, it's retarded.
But we can't control every country so I guess we assume they might create a bio-weapon and if they do maybe we could be prepared for it.
That's how I look at it.
I think it is more of a competitive thing. If other countries are making bioweapons we have to as well to keep up. We don't want to be outdone by the Russians so they have an advantage. That is the nature of the military. Here is an example I remembered:
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4746212/vladimir-putin-russia-super-human-soldiers-nuclear-bomb/
To compete both sides have to do unethical things or they will fall behind and risk being toppled by another government.

@shavixmir saidI suggest you contact a lab so you actually have an inkling of what you are talking about. Don't ask them about all GOF research though. Ask them specifically about GOF that makes a virus more deadly. That is important.

The ministry had previously published the names of people connected to the biolabs, which included representatives of the US Democratic Party, Defense Department officials, and Pentagon contractors.
The new list features people such as Karen Saylors, the executive director of Labyrinth Global Health, who reportedly worked in Ukraine as a lead consultant for a project that studied the spread of African swine fever.
Also on the list is Colin Johnson, a fellow at the University of Tennessee and director of the Institute for Host-Pathogen Systems, who allegedly studied the Crimean-Congo fever and hantaviruses in Ukraine and was in charge of collecting biological samples from Ukrainian military personnel.
The ministry provided the names of six more people believed to have also been involved in US bioresearch in Ukraine. Kirillov noted that all the evidence pertaining to these individuals will be handed over to Russia’s Investigative Committee, which will decide on the appropriate measures for the alleged perpetrators.

@shavixmir saidYou did nothing of the sort. There is no evidence making a virus more deadly will help a vaccine protect people from a deadlier version of that virus.
I’ve answered your question.

An early version of a smallpox vaccine was cowpox. Which is most deadly to people? Vaccines from less harmful viruses can treat more deadly viruses. For further reference, contact a lab.

@shavixmir saidCounter-measures meaning creating a vaccine for a virus that does not exist until you create it. Isn't that like Dr. Frankenstein creating a monster so he can know how to stop it then acting all surprised when the villagers show up with pitch forks in hands?
If you know what triggers the mutation, you can create counter-measures.
Imagine, if you will virus X-2.34
This is a virus in a second mutation in a 34th variant of that second mutation.
With me so far?
Now, say virus X-1 was far less deadly than virus X-2.
What you want to know is if virus X-2 mutates into X-3, if it will be more or less dangerous. You want to know ...[text shortened]... a car mechanic fixing a car.
Or maybe it’s an evil genius plotting world domination by pizza hut.
The fire phobic monster escaped from my lab, but it wont happen again. After all, I am a doctor. I know what I am doing.

@metal-brain saidUnlikely is what I probably wrote. That's still true.
That is what you said about the lab leak theory.
There are more viruses on earth than stars in the universe. How many hundreds of thousands of distinct strains of viruses exist in the world, all made outside the lab? How many thousands of natural-borne viruses have skipped across species over the millenia? How many hundreds have ravaged through humanity, with proof found in our inherited DNA suggesting 7-8% of it comes from a viral origin?
And they mutate with every replication cycle. It's not to say that lab leak is impossible, just unlikely.
I'm still flabbergasted that you can't (or don't want to) understand the tangible benefits to humanity of basic scientific research.
@wildgrass saidNo, it is likely and you are still in denial of that. You never said it was unlikely before, you said it was a conspiracy theory. Then after Biden, Fauci and everybody else admitted it was a good possibility you back paddled and changed your story.

No link has been found in the wild. It is a Frankenstein virus stitched together in a lab. Fauci funded gain of function research at the Wuhan lab. Then he lied by claiming it was not gain of function research. Not surprisingly you believe the liar.
"I'm still flabbergasted that you can't (or don't want to) understand the tangible benefits to humanity of basic scientific research."
What tangible benefits? The irony is that you don't understand any benefits to humanity because you have no idea if or why that would be the case. You have faith others are doing something good because you have no idea why it would do good at all. You cannot explain why because you have no idea why. You have faith and nothing more.
