Bush urges Israeli occupation end
Mr Bush's statement is the diplomatic highlight of his visit
US President George W Bush has said Israel must end its occupation of some Arab land to enable the creation of a viable Palestinian state.
He also urged a solution to the issue of Palestinian refugees that would involve paying them compensation.
It is thought to be Mr Bush's strongest public statement pressing Israel to give up land it seized in the 1967 war.
He was speaking in Jerusalem following two days of separate talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
Originally posted by zeeblebotApparently he is of the opinion that the two nation-states can cohabit together in peace and that such a peace can be facilitated by giving up land and money.

Why would'nt it work? I mean, they gave up the Gaza strip and they became friends over night, right?
I think that if its good for the goose it is good for the gander. Bush better get crack'in and start giving out land and money to the American Indains. Then he should do the same for the African Americans in the US.
There, that ought to make all the wrongs right again.
Edit: God forbid the Israelis should tell him to go back to his own country and mind his own business. Either that or they should start coming to Washington and dictating how the US creates their own foriegn policy. It can only be an improvement over what the US has now. Oh, I forgot. All that money coming into Israel from the US would be a thing of the past. Who says you can't buy good foriegn policy in other countries!!

Except that the Palistinians were the primary aggressor in the war, which makes that land legitimate Israeli territory.
I think Bush should stay out of such things. It's not our problem; it's stirring things up when our resources are getting a bit stretched. We've got no dog in that fight...
Oops, except that Hamas has been designated a terrorist organization, making all of Palestine a terrorist "country". Oops.

On one hand Bush says that the occupation must end, but on the other hand...nay, in the same breath, he murmurs that it's okay for Israel to keep up the fence, etc.
