Negativity is by now so deeply ingrained in American media culture that it’s become the default frame imposed on reality. In large part, this is because since the dawn of the internet age, the surest way to build an audience is to write stories that make people terrified or furious. This is not rocket science: Evolution designed humans to pay special attention to threats.
Right wingers on here pretend like it's just dumb libs who get bamboozled by internet fury. But it's everyone. You go to Breitbart and expect to be inspired by humanity? Nope. Everythings in the gutter and everything is libs fault. Right?
This forums been mired in a permanent cloud of negativity. Can we try to be a little more positive? There's good things to debate too.

During the misery years of deindustrialization, factories closed, especially across the Midwest. Towns and cities were decimated, but many of those places have since recovered: Strain writes, citing a 2018 Brookings Institution report, that 62 percent of the most affected counties successfully transitioned to new industries; a further 22 percent of those counties had strong economic performance over the previous two decades while maintaining their old manufacturing sectors.
We seem to be in the middle of a surge in manufacturing employment. During the first few months of COVID, American manufacturers cut about 1.3 million jobs. By the fall of 2022, those manufacturers had added about 1.4 million jobs, a net gain of 67,000 manufacturing jobs. That number could further rise as firms bring more manufacturing back home to reduce their exposure to Chinese supply chains.

Libs rely on propaganda.
Now you want to talk about your man getting caught?
@mott-the-hoople saidMott I've no idea what you're talking about. My man is on average down 5000 per year and getting caught for what? How is that propaganda?

Honestly I read the David Brooks article in the Atlantic and agree with him that the media makes us angry while a lot of good things are happening.
@wildgrass said๐คท๐ผโ๏ธ, I don’t know you although that doesn’t distract from the truth๐. I absolutely agree with you, it’s a choice to create dysfunction and division.

Unsurprisingly, people have a very positive view of their own beliefs, which means they have a negative view of yours. Thus; negativity is born, this is not rocket science if you'll allow me to bore you with such a tired cliche'.
I myself have an extremely negative view of those who resort to force and threats of force to make me conform to their dream feelings. They use a lot of well used excuses, when No1 get's in a tight spot debating what is right or wrong he generally resorts to 'will of the people' or 'elected officials'. Neither defines what is right or wrong and when it comes to it 'elected officials' is a pretty safe bet on 'wrong'. Or another favorite is 'It's for your own good' where someone gives themselves super qualifications for the right to run your life for you.
Hypocrites like kev are on an even lower rung.
@wildgrass saidProbably because negative posts play to the crowd and get more likes/responses/comments than sensible even-handed ambivalent posts.

Personally, whenever I try to be even-handed, I get ignored or ripped by a wingnut from one side or the other. Just the nature of the beast.
@wajoma saidI'll jump in here, in re Marauder falling back occasionally on 'The People', which to me smacks of Marx, but that is another thread. So what do I fall back on? Or go forward on, for that matter? Logic, common sense and rationale. If some argument does not keep within that umbrella, everything falls apart.

For example, I will say clearly that Ayn Rand had good ideas about self-interest. Religious or political controls hinder individuals from pursuing self interest...self reliance. Surely one cannot deny that. But the responses against Ayn Rand on the Forum never say that self interest is bad. She says it is good, but the libs here who disagree will NOT say why it is bad.
So, there 'ya have it, and my uncle Morty used to say.
