Gisèle Pélicot. A genuine hero.

I think it will, in large because of Pélicot's heroism.

Things are already moving in the right direction in Canada re Domestic Violence; Members of Parliament voted unanimously to criminalise coercive control earlier this year [https://www.parl.ca/DocumentViewer/en/44-1/bill/C-332/third-reading]. UK since 2015, Section 76 Serious Crime Act 2015 (SCA 2015) created the offence of controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship (CCB). It can be tried summarily or on indictment and has a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment.

The Treaty on European Union's aim is getting closer to fruition. I'm referring to Article 3, equality between women and men [https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX%3A12008M003]

Hope people, hope 🙂

Thank you for posting this. I started a thread on this topic not long ago and it's a fascinating idea.

Coercive control laws have gained ground in Australia, the UK and the US. Hopefully this leads to a better future. I'll have to read more about Gisele Pelicot.

When I was in school, my sorority did a lot of charitable work against domestic violence, mostly at shelters, on the ground, where it counted. Our weekly events also raised money for the cause to help support these women who had nowhere else to go.

Glad to see things finally coming to fruition. It's about time.

Yeah...her husband is a disgusting criminal. 20 years doesn't seem long enough.
