I think she will be killed sooner or later inspite of all the actions undertaken.
If she will be killed, of course many in the same condition will also be killed.
What do you think ? Will she be killed ?

I think people will be more careful about living wills in the future as a result.

I think that this is undoubtedly true, but would caution people that a Living Will is not a cure all if you wish, like Terri did, not to exist in such a state. First off, Living Wills, like a regular Will, can be judically attacked for any number of reasons: Fraud, Undue Influence, failure to comply with technical requirements, etc. I have little doubt that in this case Terri's parents would have fought the validity of any Living Will she left (Living Wills were a rarity in 1990 when Terri entered her PVS).
Secondly, Living Wills are not a reliable way to express your wishes because they need to be very carefully drafted to cover the situations you desire but not others. Medical and legal terminology changes over time and what is defined in a Living Will now may not be consistent with the law or medical knowledge in the future. Also, as can be seen by this case, politicians may be meddling in this area in the future so the terms of any Living Will may be invalidated by legislative enactments.
Personally, I suggest to clients a Health Care Proxy which appoints someone to make such health care decisions in their stead if they are unable to make them on their own. A set of supplementary written instructions attached to the HealthCare Proxy expressing in general terms your wishes, but not specifically tying the hands of your Proxy, can also be added. The best advice if you are interested in one of these options is to consult a competent lawyer in your jurisdiction, and NOT rely on downloads from the internet which claim that you will get a "100% effective Living Will" for a small fee. This is akin to doing your own dental work as this area of law is complex and evolving. Preparation of a Living Will or HC Proxy should not be overly expensive depending on the complexity involved; a few hundred bucks is typical.

What I think is that this woman possesses no cognitive function, her husband, who loved her, was a good husband, and wanted to be married to her for his whole life, is trying to fulfill her wishes. What MORON would want to live like that?
Her parents are being extremely selfish. And the Religious Right has hijacked her life and death to push its agenda. It's immoral, sickening, and depraved.
Or would this be a different husband, SQ?

Originally posted by sasquatch672Forget church teaching. What would have happened a year ago legally if Michael had married this woman with whom he's had children? Bigamy? And did your father find another woman before your mother's funeral? I'm guessing that he did not. Michael may well have been a good husband for many years but it seems to me that he has effectively brought into question his rights as a husband superseding the rights of the parents.
Well - I understand "'til death do us part." And I'm not saying that what he's doing agrees with church teaching. But I could see a man saying goodbye to his wife, believing that the brittle shell of a person who lay in front of him was no longer his wife, and trying to move on. I'm not saying I would do it, but I understand the thinking. Befo ...[text shortened]... marry. I can accept the fact that this guy has said goodbye to his wife and believes her dead.
