Reasons why I refuse to put winter tires on my car:
•It’s my car, my choice, my freedom. It doesn't matter if I'm endangering others.
•The effectiveness of winter tires is not proven, except by studies carried out by the biased manufacturers.
•My facebook friend said he had an accident after putting on his winter tires. They clearly don't work.
•I have another friend who has never used them and never been in an accident. You clearly don't need them.
•Many are already on their 3rd set of tires, which proves their ineffectiveness.
•We don't know what they're made of.
•The tire giants scare us with winter just to enrich themselves
•Tire manufacturer's profits go up every winter!
•The media is complicit with Project Fear. Weather Reports??
•I've heard the tire giants also invented snow and spread it at night when you sleep.
•If I have tires, the government can track me in the snow.
•Educate yourself, open your eyes, stop being sheeple.

And thankfully, the number of teen myocarditis cases linked to winter tires has been surprisingly low this year.
Essentially, you're arguing for no mandate. I don't know what they do in Minnesota, but there are no winter tire mandates in New York that I'm aware of.

I worry about myself because some moron doesn't have winter tires and has a bigger change of plowing into me or into a pedestrian.

That moron plowing into me or anyone for that matter is my business. Because of course, that moron insists on driving as well. He could just stay at home or take the bus if he considers "his car, his choice" and nobody would force him to get winter tires. But no, he is out in public endangering lives.

Roads are slippery with winter tires on as well. It still is a benefit to have them. And in countries where politicians don't pander to selfish asholes in the name of freedom, it's a requirement. The fine for not having winter tires is quite noticeable
