why they produce road cars that go by far faster than any country allows on their roads ? Isn't that a paradox? Just curious what do you think ?

A very good point. In fact, I'm going to rec your question, because it's something I've wondered about a long time.

And maybe we'll get some inter-continental agreement going... (hardly likely though).

In 97% of the cases it does. And that is 130km's per hour.

My Nissan Micra drives faster.

It's a status thing. And when you grow up in the rual US, if you don't speed, you'll never get to were your going. And I think everybody at some time in there life should feel the adrenaline rush of 150mph.

When did Germany impose a speed limit to 97% of the audobon? The last I read was only about 50% had a speed limit on it.

japanese motorcycles have speed governors limiting them to 300 km/hr (186 mph or so). not sure when that went into effect.

They didn't. I drove the autobahn last August from Hamburg all the way to the Swiss border. There was no speed limit for most of the way.

You must have the mentality of a communist to make such a statement which implies that the type of cars made by the private sector is (or should be) somehow linked to speed limits imposed by the government.

No,I am the kind of guy that sees on newspappers every day new killed people including babies, or 17 year old girl killed by AMG mercedes rushing at her in the middle of the small city 120 mph an hour. So, you imply that private sectors can make whatever they want ? Except Germany, there are some restrictions about speed and if those restrictions are made worldwide in order to protect us, how is it possilbe that in same world you can buy ROAD car for registered for ROAD travelling that goes like rocket...?

What might make more sense then is to have a city car that cannot go over say 60Kph. What you are not considering is that the speed limit is not necesarily enforced all the time. I know that in Miami on the I95 traffic can go as fast as 80 MPH and the police drives among the traffic and does nothing. The reason is that they know that its a safe speed (given the time of day, weather conditions, volume of traffic etc) notwithstanding the 55 MPH speed limit. So its impractical for the govt to impose a max speed on all vehicles.

Someone might take it to a place with no speed limit.
